Indeed, the world has evolved so much that so many things that seemed impossible before are now a norm especially in the aspect of education. I remember seeing an old movie that portrayed my country of old when education was solely for the male children and the girls were made to just stay home, marry and birth children. Another movie I saw, all genders were allowed to study in schools but inside the school, the poor background students were not allowed to get access to some education benefits and the rich background students have access to everything but became bad behaved and causing problems for the school and their parents at home all day. In our world today, Education has become a norm for everyone that those who refuse to go to school to attain a level of education are seen as being stubborn, disgraceful and even a bad person in a society. It's not all that bad but considering how far we've come, Education should be a matter of choice and not privilege. ![IMG-20250812-WA0001.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/merit.ahama/AKHzx1bPh2Piru1fB3HoCgGSTNc58tm3Dz1pMCL4gMyqSm2gMDEoFqMDetHauWA.jpg) Education in my country, Nigeria for a long while have been for all genders but it has not always been like that, which I think is same for many other countries. It's a wonder how we didn't see the need to educate women back in those days, my grandma was one of those women but that fueled her desire to educate her children today. Today, we seem to even have more females studying to great levels in school than the males. Yeah, that's not a proven statistics but it's to show how much importance my country have put into educating every person who shows the interest. Interest starts at home because I know of families that still prioritise male education. My country's educational system may not be good yet but from my experience through school, it's not as bad either. I remember we had the female students participating in a lot of activities as the male students, the access and equity towards opportunities in the school was well executed. Every student had same opportunities. ![IMG-20250812-WA0003.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/merit.ahama/AKtTJ68yyy5PzetDrJJc4K3oD54Q9XP85cVMbUFA642UuohAXBzYvKU9M7ESkkc.jpg) Some weeks ago, I was reminded of a woman who have climbed to the highest level of education in her field of study. A beautiful reminder that women can achieve just as much as the men did in the past and even much more, so long it's their choice. Women are allowed to decide to study or choose not to, it's all choice. Equity by giving education to all genders doesn't mean everybody have to be equal in what they can offer during and after school, it all depends on personal decisions and personal backgrounds. Of a truth, not everyone is able to cater for their educational needs even though they desire to, this is where scholarships rocks. Sadly, not all can have access to scholarships and not all schools can give it, it goes to say, with the desire for education comes hardwork and responsibilities to scale through. I believe having a country where both genders can go to school now is a starting point to having a world where there would be free and better education for all.
