Today, I would like to share with you a small drawing I made related to this month's contest theme: 🌻 August Contest: Intern. Honeybee Day 🐝
The technique I used was mixed media with colored pencils and mainly watercolors.
At first, I didn't have a completely clear idea, but I knew I wanted my drawing to feature a sunflower and a bee. In my first attempt, I started directly with color, but I didn’t like how it was turning out, so I decided to start over.
For the second attempt, I clarified my ideas and set about designing what would be the sketch of my drawing. Then, starting from two circles, I first created half of a sunflower, and next to it, half of a bee. I made the sunflower with a semicircle for the center and used another semicircle to guide where the petals should end. Meanwhile, I shaped the bee by looking at an image.

Once the sketch was ready, I proceeded to color it with watercolors. I used a yellow color along with a little bit of orange pigment for the base of the petals and the body of the bee, excluding the wing. Then I continued defining the petals; I highlighted the front ones with pure yellow watercolor and the back ones with yellow and a bit of orange. This was all to give them depth, as the front petals are more illuminated and the back ones darker.

With brown watercolor, I painted the center of the sunflower and the darker parts of the bee. I also used green for what would be the stem. With a bit of brown and black, I emphasized the darker areas of the bee and painted the wing with a very soft

I finished the details, shadows, and highlights with colored pencils: mustard for the shadows of the petals and the yellow parts of the bee, green for the shadows of the stem, black for darker shadows, brown for details in the center of the sunflower, and white for general highlights.
I decided to make this design because sunflowers are my favorite flowers and I understand the importance of pollination by bees for their reproduction and conservation.

Hoy quiero compartir con ustedes un pequeño dibujo que hice relacionado con el tema del concurso de este mes: 🌻 Concurso de Agosto: Día internacional de la Abeja 🐝
Utilicé una técnica mixta con lápices de colores y principalmente acuarelas.
Al principio, no tenía una idea del todo clara, pero quería que mi dibujo incluyera un girasol y una abeja. En mi primer intento, empecé directamente con el color, pero no me gustaba el resultado, así que decidí empezar de nuevo.
Para el segundo intento, aclaré mis ideas y me puse a diseñar el boceto de mi dibujo. Luego, a partir de dos círculos, creé la mitad de un girasol y, junto a él, la mitad de una abeja. Dibujé el girasol con un semicírculo en el centro y otro semicírculo como guía para determinar dónde debían terminar los pétalos. Mientras tanto, di forma a la abeja mirando una imagen.

Una vez terminado el boceto, procedí a colorearlo con acuarelas. Usé un color amarillo junto con un poco de pigmento naranja para la base de los pétalos y el cuerpo de la abeja, excluyendo el ala. Luego continué definiendo los pétalos; resalté los delanteros con acuarela amarilla pura y los traseros con amarillo y un poco de naranja. Esto fue para darles profundidad, ya que los pétalos delanteros están más iluminados y los traseros más oscuros.

Con acuarela marrón, pinté el centro del girasol y las partes más oscuras de la abeja. También usé verde para lo que sería el tallo. Con un poco de marrón y negro, enfaticé las áreas más oscuras de la abeja y pinté el ala con un azul muy suave.
También agregué un fondo en el área donde está la abeja, de manera similar con colores y acuarelas, y algunos pétalos amarillos cayendo hacia un lado.

Terminé los detalles, las sombras y las luces con lápices de colores: mostaza para las sombras de los pétalos y las partes amarillas de la abeja, verde para las sombras del tallo, negro para las sombras más oscuras, marrón para los detalles en el centro del girasol y blanco para las luces generales.
Decidí hacer este diseño ya que los girasoles son mis flores favoritas y entiendo la importancia de la polinización por parte de las abejas para su reproducción y conservación.
