Hey Lions.
Last time I wrote, I was hyping myself up to present a 4 Day Work Week Plan to my co-workers. I promised I'd come back and tell you how my presentation went.
The day of my presentation, my co-workers intently listened to my ideas. They saw the 4, 10 hour shifts, and an extra day off. They really nodded over the 9 days on 1 day off schedule. I got lots of impressed smiles and my boss said: "Whatever the team wants to do, as long as the work gets done. Well, and work your hours too."
But its going nowhere.
There are only 3 full time employees. We quickly met about how to set things up and realized that this was a terrible idea.
Nobody wants to be at the office for 10 hours! That's just crazy. Also, we all kind of take tons of time off... I do still take all four of my kids to their doctor and dentist appointments, and show up at all their school function. I've also had court, and meetings with lawyers and other reasons to HAVE to take time off, so I do.
Another full time employee gets migraines and leaves work often because of them, and the third, tends to take off when she needs mental rest. So... I guess that means we all have a modified schedule.
Lastly, because I missed work last Monday (it was raining people!), I didn't quite finish all my work. I always leave early on Tuesdays (just 30 minutes, stop rolling your eyes at me), I was burnt out by quit time on Wednesday (some days are just like that), Thursday I put in some extra time, and Friday, I did a FULL 10 HOUR DAY.
No way. I'm not doing that four times a week. My make up was worn off, my patience was wearing off, my emails were getting typos. It's def not the life for me.
I'm seeing that the "real" issue here is that I don't want to be a full time employee... And neither does anyone else. But boy, I do want that paycheck.
Thanks for taking time to read about my work schedule dilemmas.
