I hope that she still enjoyed her day. All I wanted as a mother was to make sure that she enjoys her birthday. Simple celebration with family while she’s still young because for sure a time will come that she will want to celebrate her birthday with her friends.
I didn’t think that celebrating her birthday this year would be more stressful. It’s the first time that we celebrated her birthday here in Cebu. I just hope that she still enjoyed it.
Preparation: My husband and I initially decided to eat out with my in-laws. I agreed, as we didn’t have much time to prepare, and her birthday was just a week away. I thought we should look for a different place to eat this time. After a few days, my husband asked me to look for a place with a pool. Our Lo likes water and would love to swim. That would be nice, but I felt stressed right away, as it was just 3 days away from her birthday, and it was on a weekend. Hoping that we can still find an available place.
We wanted to go to WestTown Lagoon in Mandaue City for our first option, as they have day-use swimming, but we needed to book a room for my in-laws. I messaged their page but got no response. Checked the booking site, but there are no available rooms.
The second option is the Serenity Farm and Resort in Busay. It's a good thing that they have rooms available, and we would be willing to upgrade just in case we needed to.
On the day I already told her cousin the details of where we will go and celebrate her birthday. I asked her to bring clothes so that she wouldn’t need to go back home, and we can pick her up at school.
I didn’t know that my sis-in-law ordered a birthday cake for our Lo. The night before, my FIL asked me if it’s okay if the cake is delivered in the morning. We said yes, as we planned to go after lunch. My in-laws also need to book a ticket, as they plan to go to Bohol after her birthday.

Despite the sudden preparation, we still failed to do the plan. We didn’t get to leave the house on time. We needed to pick up the cake and waited for a little bit more. We got stuck in traffic. We didn’t get a proper lunch. We arrived at the venue around 5pm.
What got me more stressed was when we arrived at the venue, my MIL got anxious and wanted to go home, as she didn’t have her meds with her. What triggered the anxiety was the location. It was already in Busay, and little did I know that I was kind of afraid of heights. Even if we informed them ahead of time on when and where to go, it still seems like they don't like to take advantage of the chance that we can celebrate for the first time.
Celebration 2 weeks before, we found a date that we can go to a self-shoot photo studio.
We ordered food for our dinner, and my in-laws decided to go home.
I, my husband, and SasaGorl spent the night at Serenity Resort. It was drizzling, foggy, and icy cold. We decided to sleep and wake up early so we can still swim up until 11am.
Honestly, I felt sad and frustrated and, at the same time, like my efforts weren't appreciated. I was also worried that SasaGorl might not enjoy her birthday celebration. All that she wanted to do was swim, and we failed to arrive at the venue on time so we could take a swim during the afternoon. Anyway, we made the best out of the last 3 hours of our stay there.
