The older you get, the more stressful life can be. Don’t forget to pause and breathe, then continue.
Let me just share one of the places that made us pause and breathe, the Balay ni Tatay Resort in Batbangon, Leyte.
It was summertime in 2023 and an Easter Sunday. With no plans of going somewhere to spend the Lenten Season, we wanted to take advantage of the time that my husband doesn’t have work because of the Holy Week Holiday.
I have seen this spot before when I was searching for other places to visit while we were staying in Tacloban. It was a spontaneous decision right after we went to my husband’s office for an Easter egg hunt event.
We bought a few things in J&F Mall, had lunch, and went to the resort. It was almost an hour's drive. There was another spot near Balay ni Tatay Resort that we decided to visit another time.
Sharing a few pictures we took at the place.
Honest feedback - It’s not a spot where you will be WOW-ed. We also didn’t stay overnight to judge the other amenities of the place. - At that time, there’s only one pool with a slide in the middle that the kids will enjoy. There’s also a playground, but it wasn’t maintained. There's a farm wherein you can see goats and cows. - You can also take pictures in a particular area, the "Bali Inspired Instagrammable Area," but for a fee of 50 pesos. - They also have a restaurant and serve pretty tasty food. - It's not nice to swim during the night because there are not enough lights (or they are still working on it) to light up the pool area. Lots of mosquitos during the night. - It's affordable. The entrance fee is 50 PHP for day use, and there are rooms that you can avail if you want to stay overnight. - They might have developed the place more, as we could see other areas in renovation when we visited a couple of years ago.
I would rate it 6.5 or 7 out of 10 as for the ambiance and being not a crowded place. Still a nice place to visit if you want to do a quick getaway from the city.
