Hello Hivers! it’s been two months since my last post I have been on a short hiatus due to some personal reasons but now I am back and happy to share something about our school activity this week for our inorganic chemistry subject we had a simple but fun experiment about evaporation it was a nice experience to do it with my classmates and groupmates we learned a lot and enjoyed the process too.

In this experiment we focused on the process of evaporation our task was to observe what happens when salt is added to water and then heated slowly we started by preparing all the materials and apparatus we needed there were beakers test tubes graduated cylinders funnels wire gauze and iron stands everything was neatly placed on our lab table ready for the experiment we made sure to follow the safety rules written on the laboratory wall before we started.

First we added salt to the water and stirred it until the salt completely dissolved it was interesting to see how the clear water looked no different even after the salt was mixed in this showed that the salt dissolved well forming a salt solution after that we set up our apparatus and started the heating process we used a wire gauze placed on top of the stand and put the beaker with the salt solution on it we turned on the flame carefully while watching the changes happen slowly.
As the water began to heat up small bubbles started forming at the bottom of the beaker then as time went by the water level started to go down it was amazing to see the water slowly disappear and leave tiny white salt crystals behind that was the evaporation process we learned that when water is heated it turns into vapor and leaves the solid particles like salt behind it was a simple experiment but it clearly showed how evaporation works in real life.

During the experiment everyone was focused and working together some of my classmates were measuring the amount of water and salt others were taking notes of the time and observations while some were helping to arrange the materials on the table I really liked how we worked as a team even though the experiment was simple we all learned how important it is to observe carefully and to follow safety steps in the lab.
I also took some pictures to share with you here you can see some of the apparatus we used like the test tubes beakers flasks and measuring cylinders you can also see my classmates and groupmates wearing their lab coats and concentrating on the experiment we all looked serious but also excited at the same time some were writing notes while others were holding test tubes or checking the setup the lab was bright and clean with big windows that made the atmosphere nice and fresh.
What I liked most about this experiment is that it helped me understand chemistry in a clearer way before I only read about evaporation in books but seeing it happen in front of me made it more interesting I realized that even simple experiments can teach us a lot when we observe carefully and connect it with what we learn in class it also reminded me that science is not just about memorizing terms it’s also about discovering how things work around us.
After the experiment we discussed our results with our instructor we talked about how the water changed into vapor and how the salt was left behind we also compared our results with other groups and most of us got the same outcome it was nice to hear that our setup worked well and that we did the steps correctly it made me appreciate teamwork and patience even more.
This experiment may seem small but it taught me many things not just about chemistry but also about working with others being careful and paying attention to details it was fun to see how our hard work paid off and I’m happy to share it here on my blog after my two month break.
I hope you enjoyed reading this short blog and seeing some of the pictures from our lab experiment I will try to post more often again and share more of our activities and experiences in school thank you so much for reading and supporting my blog see you again next time Hivers.
