Hello everyone, today I'm going to take you to another popular tourist attraction in Venice, Italy. The name "Library Aqua Alta" translates to "High Water," a reference to the natural flooding that occurs in Venice. To protect its books from flooding, the store uses a unique method of storing books in bathtubs, lavatories, and water-tight containers.
This library is located in the Castelvecchio district of Venice, near the Santa Maria Formosa Church. We visited this bookstore two weeks ago. The atmosphere is quite unique.
The entrance is marked with a sign warning against pickpockets and prohibiting the bringing of water, beverages, or food inside. The bookstore is always crowded. The bookstore offers a wide selection of new and used books.
Not all books are for sale; some are displayed, while others are not. The furniture and décor are transformed into a temple of objects, furniture, and decor. The walls are covered in old, submerged books, from floor to ceiling. The colorful, unusual surfaces resemble stairs, creating a charming atmosphere. Looking through the barrier, you can see the nearby canal.
I approached the front, which was lined with postcards and books about cats. I spotted a charming orange cat perched on the counter. And this is probably another symbol of the shop. Books are available not only in Italian, but also in English. Everything is arranged in a row.
In the center, there are books on a boat, a symbol of Menes. At the stern, two figures in fancy dress perfectly represent Venice.
