Corporate politics can be very complicated if you are someone new to the realm, hehe, everything seems so surprising that you will be left puzzled with no scope to react accordingly.
First of all, this is my first job, so when things were pretty, I was like, “Wth, why are people so allergic towards corporate culture, why are they so negative about that? I'm enjoying it so much here.” But with time, when things got revealed, the true natures exposed, I was perplexed, not just me, the whole team, where most of us were living in an illusion so far.
My senior has experience with two more companies that he worked for before. I have always seen him calm and specific to topics, not so open or chilly with the management. Like he cares only about his businesses, nothing extra. Always maintaining a formal procedure in everything, unlike us, who are just overexcited with everything and are dancing like it's a family. Lol, it isn't, it's not a family in the true sense, at least we don't take it like that anymore.
I still remember him asking me one day, “What about your CV, updating regularly?” I was like, “Ah, no. I didn't touch that after joining here.” On that day, he said something important, “Keep updating your CV regularly, whatever projects you work on, keep adding them, otherwise you will lose track and won't be ready for the opportunities you will encounter.” He opened his one, showing me different versions, updated step by step, and included lots of things.
We worked on many projects together, now seeing his, I got to remember that I worked on this as well, which I would have missed if not seen from him now. Yeah, forgetting stuff that I worked on in the past. That's what would happen if I don't work on my CV on a regular basis and sit down to make one suddenly after a decade. Keeping track instantly would eradicate the possibility of forgetting later.
He also pointed out a few things that seemed illogical to me back then, but made sense after a few months, now that I see the disasters that we went through. He was like, “Look, I can see what the management is doing, with so many lengthy procedures and decisions that are not ideal for the future. I don't see any growth for me here; they won't be focusing on any new products anymore. So yeah, I'm always on watch for a better opportunity. Not going now, but I will if I get better facilities.” It was a legit one, as we always tend to go up from our current positions.
This was a conversation from months ago, clueless about what's coming ahead for the whole team; now he is really on a hunt for a new place. Going slow but steady because the management has really done some shitty stuff. Can't digest anymore, almost all of us are getting frustrated more and more with their new approaches. I was a fool not to pay attention to his words back then, and I was a fool to keep going carefree. Now that the sudden storm hit us, we were clueless. I am left with no preparation to switch, no scope to quit right now, because a breakup without a backup is very risky and foolish.
Better late than never. So it was a wakeup call for us; if not taken seriously, then none can stop from going to hell.
So yeah, I am awake now, learning new stuff, prioritising new projects, my personal ones obviously, so that I can refine my skillsets and showcase to others my ideas and capabilities. Now, I do place my personal stuff first, then the others, like all the typical corporate employees.
To be honest, now I have realized why the employees are always self-centered, why they don't own the feeling of the company as their own. Why are they always in search of a bunk, to cheat, to eyewash? It's because the management is always in a rush to maximize their profits, exploiting the employees. They place their rules and regulations first, their interest, their name and fame, instead of the well-being of the employees. So, in such cases, how do they expect dedication from them? Lol, it's a complete no-brainer to me. It's a simple equation, man, if I don't respect my wellbeing, why would I? Here, the main factor is us, the employees; if we don't bring dedication to the table, how would they climb the ladder? It's as simple as that, if you are overlooking, then you gonna miss the big chunks.
So what more to say, life is quite messy here. Going through stress from all ways, just trying to stand strong and keep moving onwards.
Keep me in your prayers, Take Care!
