I participated in this hunt with my companion, just as our ancestors did since prehistoric times, for food of course... One of the basic needs of living beings is to feed themselves; we could conclude that there is nothing special in this activity then. A completely normal thing that these individuals organized, but... where did this happen and when?
The location is an urban forest, a network of streets connected to each other by Christmas lights, countless tables and chairs where you can consume your catch - if you're fast enough. Because you see, this can be a bit tiring to walk through the multitude of these streets and make your way through the crowds. Most of these people had the same goal as us - to have dinner after a pleasant afternoon spent in the historic centre of this city, Malaga.
Many of them were faster than us and already took a seat in the chosen restaurant. If you don't have a reservation... then you depend only on your skills to jump quickly to a different one and try out your luck there.
Two years ago when we made a super short visit to Malaga, we ate in a restaurant close to the Cathedral. This year, while walking there we decided to find it and have our dinner there. That would be a cool thing, right, to go back to the same place.
We found it! It was indeed in the street we remembered from our last visit, in Bolsa Street. Unfortunately, it was fully booked already. The waitress said we would need to queue for our table for some time as other people too who wanted to eat in the same place. We decided to find then another place, but later we saw that the situation was similar in all the restaurants close to the cathedral and the busiest streets of the centre.
Never a bad moment to stop and observe the impressive beauty of the Malaga Cathedral, in full name in Spanish: Santa Iglesia Catedral Basílica de la Encarnación.
Just in front of the Cathedral, the Cultural Centre with its colourful Spanish Baroque-style facade also caught my attention. And do you see a figure in the square in front of it? What is a statue of a tennis player doing here? Of course that was a moving statue, that is, a man pretending to be a statue.
One would need a lot of strength to open this massive door... It is time to get back to our initial action, hunting. 😆
Searching around we passed again through the street with the angels and made a U-turn when we were on the Constitution Square.
My husband found one restaurant on the map that looked interesting. It was right by a museum, Museo Revello de Toro. As it was in a small, not-so-busy street we easily found a table for us. No crowd here, although the other tables were already booked as we saw.
The hunt finished successfully! Soon my post will finish too, just to leave the restaurant and take another look back toward the museum and the monument to Pedro de Mena. A man was standing with a bike behind the monument... I think it was a sign that other people were also on the hunt for food from this restaurant we had just left. 😁
