Visita a la Basilica de la Virgen del Valle // Visit to the Basilica of the Virgin of the Valley

Hola, hola!! Continuando con la bitácora de mi viaje por la Isla de Margarita, quiero mostrarles un lugar icónico y muy especial para los margariteños y los venezolanos en general: la Basílica de Nuestra Virgen del Valle. Es una parada casi obligatoria para quienes visitan Margarita y quieren conocer más sobre su cultura y tradiciones, y sobre todo para aquellos que profesan la religión católica, aunque por ser un lugar turístico el tema de la religión no es impedimento para su visita. La Virgen del Valle es conocida como la patrona de los pescadores, los marineros y de la Armada Nacional de Venezuela, esta fama viene por que le han atribuido muchos milagros relacionados con los pescadores y marineros. A diferencia de otras advocaciones marianas, a la Virgen del Valle no se le conoce por alguna aparición. Más bien su historia parte de un traslado que hicieron de su imagen que estaba ubicada en la Isla de Cubagua, tras una tragedia natural, la trajeron a la Isla de Margarita, específicamente al Valle del Espíritu Santo, donde se construyó su santuario. El lugar está muy bien conservado, y a nivel arquitectónico creo que está bastante bien, por dentro no resulta tan grande como la visualizas estando afuera. En los laterales de la Iglesia hay murales muy coloridos que narran parte de su historia, y la Virgen la encuentras en la parte superior del altar ocupando su papel protogánico con sus hermosos mantos. El lugar es super caluroso por eso hay ventiladores grandes en cada ventana. Afuera hay muchos emprendedores artesanos con bisutería, imágenes de la virgen y prendas alusivas al espacio; de hecho al salir de la iglesia fuimos corriendo a comprar unos raspados (heladitos hechos a base de hielo molido). El 8 de septiembre se celebra el Día de la Virgen del Valle, ese día los devotos dejan ofrendas y hacen una gran celebración en honor a la virgen.
