Three weeks ago I have visited this beautiful nature place in Romania, called Lake Firiza. 🍂🍁
It is located in Maramures County, in the Nothern parts of my beloved Romania. This whole area, and by that I mean Maramuresc County, it's known for their local traditions and picturesque landscape. Some of these lands in Romania are still the same as ages ago. Their houses have an unique architecture, the front gate is made out of massive wood and its like a dome. Unfortunately, my visit here wasnt more than two days, and I didnt get to experience their traditions, their local habits and their local handmade products. Definitely other time. (And plus, November isnt quite the perfect month to be exploring here).
Anyways, about Lake Firiza.
The Firiza lake or the Stramtori Firiza Dam was built to supply drinking water to the municipality of Baia Mare.
The dam was put into operation in 1964, has a height of 52 meters and an area of 113 hectares. 📍 Location: On the road from Baia Mare to Firiza, approximately 23 km from Baia Mare. Source here

Simared Nautical Club
The services here are more than enough so everyone can have a really good time. Defintely summer is the best season to explore the area and have fun, but I think Spring and early Autumn are just fine as well.
Here's a list of what to expect here:
- Boat Rides : they will take you with en electric boat on the lake for 45 minutes and it costs 8 euros. The departure is every two hours.

| - Restaurant and Bar : we didnt try their food as we already ate before, but we have had some drinks (and by the way, the staff were very friendly). The restaurant and the terrace is quite big and the place is very beautiful and modern. The view is also amazing from the roof terrace. | ||

| - Kayak, Hydrobike, Paddleboard for rental : the price is around 6€/hour. | ||

| - Jungle Park : this one is for kids and it looks amazing. By the time we arrived in November, it was the first weekend to be close. So they are open from Spring to October. My kid was super dissappointed for being closed but thats how things were. | ||
| The Aventura park is into the woods and they have some nice trails up there. I'd really loved to find it open for guests! | ||

- Playground : they also have this little playground near the restaurant. It's not much but I think it's enough for small kids to keep them buzy for a half an hour.

I didnt see it in Summer, but I think my favorite Season to visit will be early Fall. I just love the colors, don't you agree? 🍂🍁 The yellow, the orange, the red .... and how the colors reflect in water ...I found it simply amazing. I loved this scenario very very much! Probably in the warm season it's much more crowded and loud. Now I only could find peace and serenity here.
If it's not too much: here I'm adding a few ideas about the history of this place and the Club itself.
The Simared Nautical Club, founded in 1973, has written and is still writing pages in the history of water sports in Romania. In its almost 50 years of performance, athletes have grown here who have reached the national team and the most titled kayak-canoe clubs in Romania, Dinamo and Steaua.
Currently, 10 performance athletes train here, who in 2021 monopolized the podium at the National Speed Championship. Between the ages of 14 and 18, these young people carry the fame of the Simared Club further, through hard training and results to match.
With over 20,000 supporting members, the Simared Nautical Club is the largest water sports club in Romania. They have transformed the sports base on the shores of Lake Firiza into a recreational base for their members in order to provide constant support to the athletes who train there, both for training and for participating in competitions and championships.

A little but of History :
Founded in 1973, within IMMUM Baia Mare, the Simared Sports Club was and is still today among the most important kayaking-canoeing clubs in Romania. The club's athletes have participated in the Olympics, World, European and National Championships, representing Maramures and Romania more than honorably, in any competition.
The name of the club SI MA RED is related to the IMMUM factory’s business – machine systems and reducers. During the communist period, sports associations were established next to large factories and plants and were financed by the General Union of Trade Unions of Romania. This is how the SIMARED club was founded, within the Mechanical Enterprise of Machinery and Mining Equipment (IMMUM) in Baia Mare.
In 1973 – 1980: first gold medals at the Nationals. In 1981-1990: SIMARED got to international level section. In 1991-2001: Geza Magyar writes history for SIMARED In 2001 – 2010: SIMARED athletes in the National team

I have a load of posts perfectly matching Fall season, places I have visited over the last two years but I think this year I can't do more. One more week and we will be in December. Wow! It's truly unbelievable how fast this year passed.
