It was one of those gloomy, cloudy days in Cebu. The kind that makes you just want to sit somewhere cozy, eat something warm, and take it slow. Our team decided to make the most of it by exploring a new place, and that’s how we ended up at Taste of Singapore.

Yes, I’m back in Cebu again. haha, and this time, the weather perfectly matched my craving for something comforting. When I saw the sign “Taste of Singapore,” I got a little excited. I’ve been to Singapore before, and one of the things I miss most from that trip is their food — flavorful, colorful, and always served with that distinct aroma that makes your mouth water even before the first bite.

The moment I looked at the menu and saw “Roasted Duck,”, no second thoughts. I remembered how, back in Singapore, that dish was one of my absolute favorites, the crispy orange-brown skin, the tender meat, and the savory sauce that tied it all together. I wasn’t sure if I’d ever find that same authentic flavor here in the Philippines… but I did.

When my order arrived, the first bite instantly brought me back to Singapore. The duck was perfectly roasted — juicy on the inside, crispy on the outside, and full of flavor.

It came with a bowl of warm soup and a piece of butchi (that soft sesame ball with sweet filling inside), which balanced everything perfectly. Simple, hearty, and just so satisfying.

My teammates ended up ordering the same thing, and we all just started sharing food and chatting away.

One plate costs around ₱350 to ₱400 (roughly $6 to $7), and honestly, it was worth every peso. The servings were generous, and the taste didn’t disappoint.

But beyond the food, what made the experience even better was the atmosphere. Taste of Singapore has both indoor and outdoor seating, and since it wasn’t too hot, we chose to sit outside.

There’s a nice open-air extension where you can feel the cool breeze while eating. From there, you can enjoy a beautiful view — peaceful, relaxing, and perfect for slow afternoons.

It’s funny how simple moments like this can mean so much. The gloomy day that started off heavy turned into something comforting and light. We laughed, shared stories, and enjoyed every bite. Sometimes, all you need is good food and good company to make an ordinary day feel special.

As I finished my meal, I couldn’t help but smile. It’s amazing how food can bring back memories — how one flavor can transport you to a place you once loved. For a moment, it felt like I was back in Singapore again, walking through its busy food stalls, hearing the chatter, and smelling the mix of spices in the air.

Taste of Singapore didn’t just fill my stomach; it filled my heart too.

So if you ever find yourself in Cebu, and you’re craving something different — something that feels like a quick trip abroad without leaving the island — try this place. Sit outside, take your time, and just enjoy it.

I went home that day with a full stomach, a happy heart, and another beautiful Cebu memory to keep.
