Some of the best weekends are the ones you don’t see coming. That’s exactly what happened last week.
It started as an ordinary workday—until one of my office mates suddenly said, “Let’s go to the beach!” We laughed at first, but in less than an hour, we were already planning where to go. And just like that, White Rock Resort in Subic, Zambales became our weekend destination.
White Rock is a favorite spot for tourists and locals. I’ve heard about it before, but it’s different when you’re finally there. The moment we arrived, I could already smell the sea breeze and hear the sound of the waves—it instantly felt like a break from everything.
First stop was the registration area. They counted how many we were, then handed us plastic bracelets—our ticket to all the fun inside. Once you have it on your wrist, it’s official: you’re in, paid, and ready to explore.
Before anything else, we agreed on one thing: we had to ride the dragon boat. That was our main goal, our mission for the day.
Sure, there were other attractions like the floating pool—a huge inflatable playground sitting a little farther from the shore—but we didn’t want to waste time. Banana boat first, everything else later.
While waiting for our turn, we decided to walk around. The place was huge. There were pools, cottages, wide open spaces, and of course, the long stretch of beach.
Then it was finally time for our dragon boat ride. We put on life vests, listened to a quick safety briefing, and climbed onto the bright yellow inflatable.
At first, it was nerve-wracking since it was our first time, but in the end, we really enjoyed it. It was so much fun and such a new experience for us.
At first, it felt steady—until the boat started pulling us across the water. Suddenly, we were bouncing over the waves, holding on for dear life while laughing and screaming at the same time.
By the time it ended, we were drenched, tired, and completely happy. My cheeks hurt from smiling so much.
We didn’t bring a feast, just some simple bread with different spreads. Nothing fancy, but after all that excitement, it felt like the best snack ever. We sat down, ate, and talked about how each of us almost fell off the banana boat.
The rest of the afternoon was spent exploring more of the resort. We watched people try paddleboarding, saw kids splashing around in the pools, and just enjoyed the view. The sun slowly started setting, painting the sky in soft shades of orange and pink.
And now, we’re already planning our next trip—not to the beach this time, but something with even more thrilling activities. We’re hoping to make it happen this coming Christmas season. It might be a little early to plan, but we’re all already looking forward to it.
