Hello my dear friends! It's been a while. I will get to why in another post...
We all know that the mind isn't something to just understand in a few minutes, hours, or even years.
There are some pretty famous people who tried and still didn't figure it all out. So how, as mere amateurs, are we supposed to know how it all works? It's nearly impossible, although we can all have an educated guess - or two.
I am only just ***starting*** to figure out how mine works, let alone that I'd be able to analyse all of the aspects, or another person's mind even.

# My Mind and the Concept of Time
The short and simple: I have none. Sometimes time flies, as for everyone. But most of the time it seems like hardly any time has gone by. I can start cleaning my kitchen, think I've been at it for an hour and then find out it was actually four hours. The only time when things move fast is when I have a deadline. I wish I could control these things!
On the other hand, I've actually wished to slow time before, mostly due to deadlines, and then it actually did somehow...I'd have an hour to finish something and somehow the last 30 minutes seemed to last for much more than that. I don't think it's efficiency, because to be honest, I'm really not the most efficient person. ***Sometimes*** I can be, with the emphasis on sometimes. Very rarely.
If I plan to do something and I set a time limit for it, somehow I can manage to get distracted about 20 times and as soon as the time limit is passed, I haven't even started yet...
But in some rare moments, I can suddenly juggle 61 things almost at the same time, and get it all done without too much effort. I don't know why. It's just the way it is.
In Hive years, I've been on the platform for 8 years now...
I remember seeing the message pop up. I also remember thinking: Oh, let's do a post and start more posts on a more regular basis. And then, all of a sudden, it's September!
Yup. Like it is now. Turns out: the last one I did was in May. But feels like 2 weeks ago!
Anyway, this isn't what I was getting at...

# The Mindful Work-Done Jar
The other day, I was talking to a friend. I always thought of her as a person who can get things done when they need to get done and use her time in the most effective way. I was wrong. Turns out, she's just like me! Mind all over the place and sometimes very effective but sometimes completely scrambled. She's here on Hive too @dredreams, so it's nothing but nice things otherwise haha.
Anyway, this friend had a brilliant, yet simple, idea. At least, that's what I think.
A Mindful Work-Done Jar! I came up with the word, because I really couldn't think of anything else...But you'll get why in a minute.
So, she told me that it helps her remember things and get them done. I'm all up for it, because with me it works like this: I buy an agenda. I write my name and details in it carefully and beautifully, and I'm already proud. Then I add the necessities: emergency contact, important phone numbers, etc.
Then I regularly use the thing for a week or two, writing down all my to-do things, errands to run, shopping lists, meetings, etc...But then, one out of two things happen:
1. I either misplace it and can't find it again till the next big house clean...
or
2. I forget about it altogether.
These things just don't seem to stick with me for some reason. Or I don't stick with them.
So the work-done jar works like this: You write to-do items on sticky notes and plaster them where you see them clearly. In my case that would be the computer screen. Then one by one, you pick off those little notes and do whatever it tells you to do. Once the chore, task, or whatever, is done, you fold the little paper to make it even smaller, and put it in a large jar.
That way, you can literally see how much you've accomplished, and you get that nice feeling of actually getting somewhere. I can tell you: it definitely feels better than cleaning the floor just before my jungle kid waltzes through the house, that's for sure. And there are no sticky notes for that.
So this is the good of it all: you get things done, and can have a moment to feel proud of what you've accomplished. Feeling good about yourself will get you further than not feeling good about yourself. And it's quite real. It's been proven many times over that happy people create more and get more done than if they're feeling down. So let's all feel happy. Even if it's just for daily chores.
#### And that's it! Simple but useful!
Now, I need to make it a habit to stick 'Hive post' on a few of those sticky notes as well.
Let's see how that goes...
