Itās the weekend again, and we had a fun plan to stroll through the city and enjoy the holiday lights. My husband finished work at 8 PM, so we picked him up, and then all three of us headed to the city. Our first stop was Plaza Libertad. There were lots of people gathered, admiring the beautiful lights. Some even seemed to be practicing their dance moves, probably getting ready for a Christmas party or performance ā lol! š
The Iloilo City Hall was also glowing with lights, adding to the festive vibe. Yesterday was the official opening of the Christmas lights, and there were fireworks too! It was a bit disappointing that we werenāt able to enjoy the fireworks because I had to work, but at least we got to experience the lights today. The city really knows how to celebrate the season. Even though we missed the fireworks, it still felt nice walking around, seeing everything lit up, and feeling the holiday cheer. Maybe next year we can catch the fireworks show!
Almost all of the trees in the plaza were decorated with lights, which looked really nice. Itās great to see so many people around, enjoying the vibe and the beautiful scenery. This plaza used to be kind of lonely. I remember back when I was still in college, this plaza was the closest one to my school. Sometimes, Iād pass by here after classes, and if it was after 6 PM, it would be so dark. There were only a few lights because some of them had been damaged by troublemakers or people using the plaza as a hideout. I also remember when I used to come here for dates, and once there was even a gang fight. We got so scared and had to run away fast! Itās nice to see how much the place has changed now, all bright and lively.
After enjoying the lights at Plaza Libertad, we decided to head to the Iloilo Provincial Capitol. If Plaza Libertad looked nice, the Capitol was even more awesome! The lights there were on a whole different levelāmuch brighter and more colorful. There were way more people too, and I even saw babies in strollers, which made it feel so family-friendly. Everyone was busy taking pictures and videos, all excited about the display. It really made me feel the Christmas spirit, and I loved that feeling of simply enjoying the moment. I think this is the first time in many years weāve gone out to see the city lights. The last time we did this was back in 2018āOMG, that feels like so long ago! Iām really starting to enjoy going out with family more these days.
The lights at the Capitol were on another level! We even went inside the building and saw pictures of the governors on the walls. It was fun roaming around and taking pictures here and there. What made it even more special was seeing how much Axel enjoys being in photos now. Before, heād be a bit shy, but now when I ask him to pose, he immediately strikes a pose! š
We also bought a toy from an old man who was selling them. Axel didnāt really need it or even like it that much, but I just felt like helping the man out. He looked like he hadnāt sold anything yet, so I thought it was the right thing to do. We also bought some nuts from him, and I silently prayed that more people would stop by and buy from him. Iām sure heās just trying to make a living, and I hope things get better for him. At least heās out there, trying, and I admire his effort.
Itās really nice to enjoy and spend time with familyāsomething I sometimes feel Iāve been missing. Not that I havenāt spent time with them, but we didnāt really go out often. Maybe itās time for a change. I think weāll try to go out two or three times a month from now on. Iām also looking forward to traveling next year. I have a lot of places on my bucket list, and Iām hoping we can visit them one by one. Manifesting!
