One of the largest and most impressive animals to call Canada home, the Grizzly bear is known around the world. In North America their range has stretched from Alaska to Mexico. It's estimated that there are around 60,000 of them on the continent. Compared to their historic range they now occupy about half of that and as civilizations spread and cities grow their range is expected to continue to shrink. They are known for their ability to hibernate spending 5-7 months of the year, during the winter months resting although in warmer climates such as California they actually do not hibernate.
