This is one of the rarer birds for me to encounter; I have seen them about 3 times, and it seems they come and nest in a large pine tree on my front lawn at a certain time of year. It seems to be brief, maybe only 2-3 weeks that they would be around. Maybe it's a stopover in this city before they go out to somewhere more wooded.
There are usually maybe around 8 or 10 of them picking away at the lawn feeding. Perhaps I am near a popular vacation stopover for these little white-winged crossbills, and I think that maybe next year around this time I will be sure to keep my eyes out for them to come visit again.
