Para Ti Mama: August 7 2025

Today was a pretty decent day. I got the sleep I was needing, spent some quality time with my grandfather and even got some decent activity.

We went to the driving range as a family and met up with a few of my cousins. We had a blast. It was fun trying to coach my daughter on her golf swing, which was even more fun given the fact that I don't know how to swing a golf club myself 🤣. I do have to say though that when I did hit take a few swings, I did better than most of the rest, but even if my little cousin beat me.

I finished with over 10000 steps today. That was meeting my goal. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to be very active today but that wasn't the case. I also badly needed some sleep.

So I was happy to be able to put 80 active minutes today and clocking over 7.5 hours of sleep. Now if I could just keep those numbers up, that would be great.

Continuing with the theme: Each night I post the song that was playing as I ended the workout and use that as the title for the post for that day. Today's song is a somewhat obscure one. It's Para Ti Mama written by Julio Cesár Del Paraguay. An ode to his mother, this song struck deep in the heart when I first heard it. That was mainly because I had just experienced the loss of my grandmother at the time. While the lyrics are flowery and positive, the way it's sung feels like regret and longing. Of course, I don't speak Spanish fluently so I may be missing some nuance in there. There are a few versions of the song on youtube. Check them out.

Well, that's all for tonight. I'll check in tomorrow.
