Education In My Country

Education they say *'is the bedrock of a nation'.* It is very important for a nation's development and strength and it is needed to run things right. If it's lacking among group of people or in a country, stagnancy and underdevelopment will be their order of the day. So education is very crucial for a nation's growth and for shaping future generations. ![photo-1473649085228-583485e6e4d7.jpeg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/mojtee07/23w2mLMvhnzSR7LwWbMkJJgmXgWJqVtumc7esX9BPSFHKu4LR2rF69U9gbqpzX9JJc6eh.jpeg) [Source](https://unsplash.com/photos/children-sitting-on-chairs-inside-classroom-jEEYZsaxbH4) Gone are the days when the African families prioritize the education of only the male child all because the female will get married and end up in another man's kitchen.... lol. That was then, but now the story has changed, people now see learning in another way round than what it used to be. The importance of education is far more than what anyone can fathom or just for a particular gender, it is now for everyone. Whether physically challenged or not, both genders now have the privilege of furthering their education to whatever level they felt fit for themselves without discrimination. So in my country's educational system, there's no gender discrimination and no limit to learning. As a matter of fact, females are presently out numbering their male counterpart in schools. In the enrollment of my learners in the just concluded academic session, I have more female learners than male. My class has 29 learners, which comprises 10 males and 19 females. *Although this is not surprising to me because the rate at which the awareness of girl-child education is on the rampage nowadays, parents can't avoid turning deaf ears at all.* All thanks also to some state government in Nigeria where they make education compulsory for all. In Oyo state (one of the south west states in Nigeria) for example, it's written everywhere in Yourba language and almost all radio stations keep hammering on it *"dandan le ko"....... meaning "education is compulsory"*, whether you like it or not you must be in school. ![photo-1523580846011-d3a5bc25702b.jpeg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/mojtee07/23zGeiQpLGbtxgft8b47hDqVJBtXyfRJwJRyP3zaRNnqsBdeoABvccs5kdw3Tkq7fLPoU.jpeg) [Source](https://unsplash.com/photos/woman-wearing-academic-cap-and-dress-selective-focus-photography-1VqHRwxcCCw) There was a time when I also heard some ministries of education through the support of their state government are picking up street kids during school hours with their van and enrolling them in school compulsorily based on the parent's area of residence, they just want everyone to have good and sound formal education and push their career to the farthest they can go. So no gender based limits whatsoever in the Nigerian Educational System, females are working tirelessly to make a name for themselves. They are even striving the most in some career than the male and are breaking records all over, although the male folks aren't relaxing too both are in a healthy competition when it comes to educational pursuit and it has been so encouraging. Education they say is the bedrock of a nation like I've said earlier and a nation can never come to existence without the involvement of both gender in building it, so in having a solid foundation for a country both genders have to be involved. Therefore, the educational system of my beloved country Nigeria has greatly improved in terms of enrollment and the impact it has made and still making in the life of both gender is overwhelming. Infact, the equal right giving to both gender is one of the most important things that has happened to us and I'm loving it. Thanks for visiting my blog!
