Music is the Key... always was, is and will be - to me at least. And for the folks knowing me a little that is no surprise. So the special day to remember for this weeks Silver Bloggers Chronicle #19 has to do with music, first love of my life.
In 1997 is was the Bartender in a small Music Night Club next to Geneva... with four different groups every week. Known, unknown, all kind of styles and genres. These years are part of my best years in my life. Many excellent musicians i met there. One of the days I'll always remember happened there... actually many, but one in particular.

My boss was a "well known" musician, especially in France, when he was younger. Living most of his life in Paris, he knew "everyone" in the music scene. Which was one reason there was such an awesome mix of groups in the program of the place.
As a multi-instrumentalist he still had the preference of playing the trombone. It was HIS instrument. So one day he came into the club exited like a little kid. He couldn't stop smiling, but didn't want us to know why or what's going to happen soon enough.
It took us days to figure out that he actually had a call from an old friend who was organizing a European Tour for one of my bosses favorite bands. They were playing in Lausanne and then had a week off to go to the next concert in Lyon France. And Geneva was on the way there...
So the boss was like, "Hey, why don't you all come over to our place for a concert... to be sure you're not getting out of the groove, hehehe"! Yeah, he was a funny guy. But long story shorter, he actually got the okay from the bandleader to do exactly that.

Back to my memory. Since i was more or less always into rock'n'roll, blues, funk and jazz - it was one of these days, me too, i became exited like a little boy. Loving music of folks like - John Lee Hooker, Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin and James Brown, it was the moment i met one of the musicians who knew them all...
The day was here and instead of going to work for 9 pm as usual, i was in the club already at 4... Couldn't miss the moment the band arrived for the sound check. And there he was...
Fred Wesley
Wooohooooo... the one and only, with the New JB's . All the awesome musicians on the small stage we had in the club was another magical moment that night. I even had the chance of quite a long chat with Fred Wesley. What an awesome personality.
