Today I wanted to fulfil the promise I made go my little niece to sew her a birthday dress before everything went wrong. Her birthday happens to be on the 30th of August every year and this year she clocks 4years.

It made it a habit to sew them birthday dress everytime it's their birthday date but for her I have been really busy with academics so much that I was unable to sit and sew her a dress when that day day.

My little girl has hoped for a new dress on that day and was disappointed, she even pleaded with her mother to assist her mother to purchase her a cake but we were all helpless to give her a memorable day on that day. Eventually we bought her a packet of sweet which she shared with her friends and they continued to play together until the day was over

Been the smart kid that she is, she hasn't forgotten about the dress yet and keeps talking about it with whatever small chances she get to speak with me on phone.

I have some little spare time today and decided to sew her a dress.

I stayed with cutting the upper bodice making it an off shoulder design here.

I had this lace material from sewing an outfit for her mother

Folding the fabric in two measured her waist, cheat and full length measurement.

For the off shoulder, I came down by 2" from the shoulder line

Then I used the front block to cut the linings and other body parts

There goes the back and front bodice with the lining

Next was the sewing where I used the lining to turn the fabric.

And then joined the side seams and then gave it a good press.

For the lower path I made a gathers of the satin fabric here

Next was the zipper which I equally fixed here

Then I cut out 5"length of the satin and added it to the off shoulder part.

The dress was ready and it was time for her to try it on before I added the other parts for embellishment and all but when the little angel came to try out her dress

The ball dress became extremely shorter than what I have imagined.

How has this baby grown so tall that I had forgotten her heigh. It been a while I have seen her and couldn't estimate her height measurement. I have used up the satin and every other measurements. She was happy that I was making a new dress for her but here is more to be done on this.

I have to spend some extra money to get some more fabrics go increase the length of this dress before we can continue with embellishment. My baby dress is totally not ready of befitting for a birthday dress yet but I'm happy that she came around to visit me and we were happy to see each other. Hopefully I will find out how to readdress this dress to make it prettier than what we have.
