Hello Hive

It is true that they say that sometimes we have that friend closer than a brother and here is just another of the young ladies I value, respect and loves so much. She has been a blessing to me right from the moment our path crossed and ever since we have been looking out for each other. She is always there to assist me and had been one of the faithful friend that I can call out to even in the darkest hour of the night.

Watching her resilience and courage through school, the strong determination and will to succeed academically I can say that God has actually blessed those sacrifices and crowned her efforts with success. I learnt a huge lessons from here. Our background shouldn't determine our future and if you are not fortunate to be born with a silver spoon, try to work hard so that you can buy one for yourself.

Due to the fact that I was born into poor family that doesn't mean that I cannot breakout from the circle of poverty, it will only require some studies, skills and determination to pull through. Let's stop hanging unto finances as an excuse and the reason for our lack of success in life.

I was more than happy to sew this convocation dress for my dearest even though it came at a very late hour. We got the Financial assistance to organize this very late. We wanted to sew a dress, bake cake for her and her her do a photoshoot but fate had his way.

Starting with sourcing for fabric at a nearby store I began with cutting the clothes using her measurements to create a paper pattern here
The front block, back block and the sleeves here

Next I moved into sew the pieces of the upper bodice using facing for the necklines and fixing the zipper here.

After I have completed the joining of the upper bodice, I started working on the lower part. This is where I faced one of the challenges of fashion.
Based on the inspiration we got from the internet regarding the description of what she wants I cut out the lower pattern in this manner

I opened this up and began to pleat it one after the other pinning it down

I stitched down the pleated area here and attached it to the dress. This was when I began to experience a little bit of fitness challenge. The upper, this is a convocation dress that must come out his best.

After a long tussle with the dress I finally got it together right in time for her photoshoot which she went for.
Today is celebration day and she already left the house much earlier for the program but I'm still angry at the photographer that he has not been able to edit the pictures he snapped her or send them either. He must have snapped alot of people and it's taking so much time to edit pictures. We are still to get the official pictures of her in this beautiful dress

Guess what, while I has scary dropped the blog he sent in the pictures and I quickly edited the blog to show us the beautiful photos section of my dearest, isn't her dress beautiful?

The mannequin has a smaller form and is not doing justice to the dress. It was quite a challenge to sew overnight and get a dress ready for my dearest but the sacrifice is worth it.
