Hello Hive

A happy weekend to all my friends and family on hive, I hope that we would all get to have some quality rests this day. The year is gradually coming to an end and it is my desire that we will all have something tangible to remember the year for. Personally I have been able to tick one or two things from my goal for the year and that is just enough for me.

Been able to grow the food we eat yearly has been what has been keeping us alive. The economy of the country has not been favourable and trying to secure a job or pursue ones dreams gets harder by the day. At least been on the farm keeps away hunger while we seek for other opportunities.

Even farming comes with its own drawbacks. You have to pull through the challenges of poor weather, bad soil, poor seeds or even crop diseases. Sometimes the yield is much, other times it is a complete loss.

On this very soil this year we have planted some corn and groundnut which became a total loss for us. There was a dry spell that attacked the groundnuts and the corn. They all dried up without producing any foods for us.

The corns were the first to dry up producing nothing.

The groundnuts followed when the the dryness became severe, they dried up without producing any foods.

Considering how much we spent to cultivate the land and control weeds within it we decided go plant some beans. I cleared off the corn stalk right after the remnant of the groundnuts were removed.

Instead of leaving the land idle for the rest of the year we decided to try planting beans as beans has some growth advantages.

  • It doesn't require so much rainfall to produce

  • It doesn't take so much time for its growth phase.

  • It require lesser costs or expenses to grow beans.

These are all the advantage we would get from growing beans. Now we have planted these beans right from the day I cleared the land here after we pulled up the corn stalk and groundnut bushes.

Since the soil was free of grasses we had planted the beans and now I'm pleased with the development. Although the soil is very dry since the rains are finally growing away, this beans might still do well. An average of dew coming down for moisture contents is always enough for beans to produce seeds.

We would only watch out for any disease that may affect the plant as that is one of the challenges that often affects beans growth. If we are privilege to have one more downpour and then the dews take over then we would have something to harvest form here.
