Hope our day is coming on as planned. Mine is moving smoothly and it's time to take some break and rest from work. So I decided to share with the making process of this shirt dress that kept me awake all night.

My sister saw this shirt dress online and admired it so much she asked me if I could replicate the same for her. Well I will give it a try was my answer.

Sewing shirts often pose a lot of challenge for me and the only way I could master the act is if I practice how to sew it consistently.

Without wasting much time instated with cutting the front and back block which I had joined here. It was really dark and not bright enough for me to capture that picture.

The silk was a pain in my bones. My sister has bought a contrary fabric. Most times we admire clothes and not give need to both the fabric or arrangements of the cloth and other necessary details

We can't replicate a design and be successful in doing so when we do not pay attention to the fabric type use, the color and texture and every time details.

Having joined the front and back bodice I got a satin fabric. The two trouser length of the silk wasn't enough to sew the entire dress as my sister is of a plus size.

Next I was stitching out the hemming of the satin fabric here.

So I decided to add a touch of plain color to it. This was then the navy blue I now got and decided to pleat it around the hemming of the dress.

Afterwards I used the remaining parts of the satin for the sleeves here.

After cutting and attaching the sleeve to the shirt, I got an elastic band and attached it towards the hem of the sleeve to pull the sleeve together to form a lovely look on the sleeves.

The elastic on the sleeves is quite different from the design she saw and desired yet I was willing to try something new for her and see if she will appreciate some alterations

After hours of struggle with the silk fabric a dress finally emerged. I loved the combination of the plain and pattern fabric and the dress wouldn't have been more beautiful another way.

One thing I don't know how to do is the button hole for shirts, this leaves me with having to patronize other fashion designer services to use their machines to assist me with button hole. What do you think of the shirt dress.
