Hello Hive
The weather has continuously been drifting to the extremes and this is to point out exactly how we are mismanaging the earth.
It really hurts me that alot of people are illiterate and ignorant. Majority of the old people among us here hardly understand what is climate talk more of working towards keeping safety environment and depletion of the ozone layer.
The weather is now to the extreme, each time it's sunny times the sun shine and temperatures gets extremely hot and each time it rains this flooding happens
We have been having the rains very much consistently these few days that the earth is already tired of drinking too much water. September is often the peak of rain in my country and we often thread the month with caution.
Some houses where people live often gets flooded, the streets and everywhere. Some heavy downpours can last for hours trapping us indoor as it is important to stay safe. I felt so bad to hear that a lot of people have died in this year's flood already. Some people are so stubborn to continually insist on living in those riverine areas until the rains and flood comes suddenly at night to take them unaware. The weather forecast often issues warning for people to move away from flood zones but some will still chose to remain there with excuses that they have no where to go.
All around this our community river are houses and our farmlands, by this time some of our guinea corns are already submerged in the overflown river.
We have stopped growing rice close to this very river due to this challenges. This is one of the reasons why we have fewer farmlands we can farm on. Far into the forest and villages, the safety of life is not guaranteed and closer to town where we are a bit safe, flooding is biting deep.
The lands closer to the river and often fertile and we often utilize it to grow as many crops but this yearly flooding stopped that and we only plant guinea corns here now. The guinea corn grows really tall even to a length of 200inches sometimes but they get submerged too. Although recovery is often fast if the water drains away from the farm. Any other plant won't survive such flood water especially vegetables.
The rain has been quite heavy since yesterday that I have been indoor and couldn't step out and when it subsided a bit we have rushed to check on our farms and here is the situation
From here now we are still checking on our other farms in other locations to see if they are affected by the rain too. The government really need to act in this part of the world to sanction people, attach bills to poor sanitation and management of the earth and create a room to educate the adults in languages that they can understand so that we can all do better to avert these disaster and problems damaging our earth.
