Hello Hive

A happy new week to us all, I hope that we were able to catch up with some rest during the weekend. We are up here already and almost on our way to the farm for the continuation of our groundnut harvest.

By the way we also decided to check on our beans farms in other location to check on the progress of the crops. We are watching all of our crops one after the other and making plans and preparations to harvest whichever one is due for harvest.

# Above are samples of the edible green beans pods while the next pictures shows the continued growth and drying phase of the beans

The beans has been of a type that has produced some green pods which I had earlier told us that those where edible and can be cooked and eating with sauce. While it is not all the beans we can harvest and eat in that manner, we have to permit other to go through a growth and drying process so that the beans can become like the ones in the next picture below

Right after the drying phase I opened up some pods to see the growth progress and development of the beans and this is what we have got here

You can see that we have some pest infected and terrible looking seeds. This is one of the greatest challenges with growing beans. Right from when beans begins flowering they get infected by pest, Insects and diseases and we work round the clock to keep these beans from of these infections if we intend to harvest anything from the beans.

Insects for instance often hop on beans plants to feed on the leaves, distort the flowering and seed production while some beans pest infestation causes diseases that affects both the plants and the seeds.

This is how your beans seeds becomes like when they get infected by pest. The seeds becomes smaller in size, wrinkled and producing these dirty exudate from the pest digestion of the beans seeds. These aren't safe for consumption. I believe that you an see the reason why we engage in timely harvest and consistent monitoring of this plant at every stage to ensure that all goes well with the beans.

There are pesticides that are readily available and can be applied for beans plants at various stage to minimize of prevent this kind of occurrence. Whenever beans plants has this type of infestation the yield becomes poor or you may not have any harvest at all. This is the conditions of the beans we have planted earlier and it's so sad that this is happening contrary to our experience of growing beans in the previous year.
