Hello Hive
Its almost midday here and while our farmwork is ongoing I decided to drop by and share you this blog that excites me so much. Although I had made my drafts before now making it much easy to drop by the Blockchain almost from anywhere. With mobile phones now it's easy to surf the net and do whatever we want from anywhere.
This is how we appeared on our thanksgiving for the Sunday that has just passed. Everyone is looking beautiful and colorful and I'm sure that you can spot monica-ene in the picture below.
The family conference I have earlier blogged about came to a conclusion on Sunday with thanksgiving by every member of the church. Each serving department in the church were encouraged to wear a common uniform to identify their unit with. After the service was when we took this group photograph with our beloved resident pastor and his beautiful wife.
Before today when ever the choir group chose to wear a uniform like this one sewn with African print fabric here, monica-ene is often left with nothing to wear. The last time I only wore a black dress in this picture below while the others had a jacket to wear
Luckily for me we had sewn a beautiful yellow dress here that has a color similar to the jackets I managed to have a left over of the fabric after making my dress and then decided to sew a jacket with it.
I started with cutting the flair since it's most important as the fabric was far less than a yard.
I had to cut the 180° flair instead of a fuller 360° flair that would have been more beautiful.
Next I cut out the front and back block here and then the waist band that will join the both together
I wasn't able to get a straight front block and had to keep joining very tiny pieces of the fabric to make a single piece but while doing so you have to ensure that you give this a very nice stitching and finishing.
I added paper stay to the fabric and it wasn't a nice fabric and wouldn't stay firm before I stated sewing it.
Thanks goodness the jacket is one that doesn't have a sleeve hence I was able to utilize every little pieces of the fabric left.
For the sewing, I had cut lining for each piece which I used to turn each of the bodice likewise the flair here
Everything was concluded and I was glad that I have something functional even though it wasn't as beautiful as the African print fabric jacket, the color matched well with those of the other choir members and you can see where I was handling the microphone strong in worship.
Casual jackets like this can be sewn using any colorful fabric and matched with a plain dress or any fitting combinations.
Mine looks very simple and lovely as I added a waist belt and took some shot in it.
