Hello Hive
Finally it is about time for groundnut harvest but will there be a thing to harvest from the root of this groundnut?
This is that our groundnut that was affected by the August dry spell. It was about that time that the Groundnuts was meant to produce seeds that the dry spells happened. Now that the rains are here, the all looks abit revived but it's difficult to tell if these have any peas under neat them that we can harvest.
I have come to check on this peas and I realized that they are ready for harvest. If you delay harvest, the peas under the Groundnuts will get rot. Hence as soon as grains are ready for harvest it is important to pull them up right away.
Now I couldn't even pickup a groundnut plant to check how far ready they were, the challenge is that once you pull up a plant, our friendly thieves will use that as an opportunity to come and steal a good portion of the crops if they noticed that you are about to harvest and have checked your crops for how much they have grown pretty well.
The corn in the farm have all dried up producing absolutely nothing. They were all badly affected by the rain. It's the 9th of September today we it is probably still a good time to plant some beans. We are thinking of clearing this place so that we can plant some beans here. Rather than harvest nothing from our piece of land we are thinking of clearing the place and planting some beans, hopefully the rains will last well through the latter end of the year to give us some food. Let's see how our activities go from now until the weekend. Mind you we still have some peanuts in our other farm that are still coming up and hopefully those ones can give us some peas to.
We love and use peanuts in the house for so many food recipes, this is the more reasons why we grow this rather than having to purchase them more expensive from the market.
