# Hello Hive.

A beautiful new morning to us and a happy new day. I feel a lot tired and still finding it hard to come out of bed.
Our groundnut harvest has continued and yesterday we were going about the tedious process of picking/plucking the nuts from the plants.
During the weekends we have been uprooting the groundnuts plants and pilling them up into a heap under every available tree shade. It will be a bit difficult to both uproot the plant and pluck the nuts in the same day hence we chose to divide the labour
The first two days we kept uprooting the nuts with hoes as the ground was hard and dry and we needed to do a little digging to pull up the plant.

Yesterday was the day we began plucking off the nuts from the plants here. We needed all the hands we can get to assist us with this process as each process of groundnut harvest is really time consuming.

My sister and nephew weren't able to go to school due to non payment of their school fees, I ceased that as an opportunity to bring them to assist us with farm work. Their school fees is about $200 and the amount I have saved up to pay for this isn't complete yet and instead of staying idle at home they decided to join us in the harvest.

By the time it was evening, we have plucked off some good amount of groundnuts. Plucking groundnuts isn't usually hard compared to pulling the plants from the ground.

The only challenges with this is that it is time consuming and since the weather gets hot soon as the sun comes up, it becomes difficult to work under the sun for longer hours.

Despite all the harvest of yesterday We were still unable to harvest all our groundnuts. With the work remaining it looks like we may need at least one more week on this particular farm.

There are different specie of groundnut plant and here is how the one we have harvested looks like. It is the type that bears double seed within each pods.

Right there in the farm everyone had stared popping this nuts into their mouth and enjoying eating them fresh. Different specie of groundnuts taste really differently. For me I prefer to boil this a little before eating it.

We left the farm at about 6-7pm yesterday evening and today we decided not to undergo any rigorous harvest but to rest ourselves and then prepare to continue tomorrow. We decided not to do series of this hard labour at a stretch. Although we would be visiting the farm but it will be to keep away thieves that may plan to steal our nuts since we have started harvest and it's a good excuse for anyone to enter the farm.
The harvest nuts will now be subjected to Sun-drying before it undergoes further processing.
