Hello Hive
Happy weekend to my friends and acquitances onchain, I hope that our weekend is coming on well and that we are taking as much time to meet today.
It's often admirable to give fabrics a second use, more so it is so much attractive if we are able to blend fabrics so well to make them attractive as new. Instead of buying new and expensive fabrics to sew new clothes, we can make some old clothes as good as new. Fabrics are really expensive these days and there is not a single budget towards buying new clothes.
Whenever I get tired of wearing some old clothes I thing about ideas to rebrand some insisted clothes to make them as beautiful as new.
I have just created one of such beautiful magic. Having a pant in my closet that has been idle for year and then a plain dress that is no longer useful.
I have sewn this pant for myself a long while from now and the it is no longer of perfect fit, I can barely wear it. Even after opening all the inseam allowances the pant is still too tight and not wearable.
The dress on the other hand is a plain and worn out, I can longer found any use for it too. Rather than keep two different fabrics that aren't useful I decided to make a combination of the two to see what I can make of them.
I brought out the pants and cut it open here
I picked the different pieces of the pant and joined them to make a straight piece
Afterwards I then cut out the upper bodice of the dress and measured out my perfect fit measurements
I reduced the half length and seam allowances as blouse didn't have any fit before now. I had sewn the dress during the days of my apprenticeship and there was too many errors with the dress.
Today in so happy that my skills have improved a whole lot and I can can gladly adjust these and make better clothes.
Sewing the sleeves was the most challenging part. The fabric was exhausted and I was left with several pieces, I picked them up and started to join very tiny pieces until I was able to get what I can use as flair for the sleeves
These are the several pieces of the sleeves which I joined together, but for this you have to do some topstitching in order to get a neat finishing. Most times when you join several pieces of fabrics like this for make a while it's advisable to do top stitching to keep the hemming flat
Next I joined the sleeves to the blouse here
I love the combination of the both fabrics. The plain pink wasn't as much beautiful but the combination of the two of these is really beautiful.
