It's needlework work o'clock and of course a creative Monday. I'm sure that we are all ready for all the beautiful creative arts that has started flooding the community already. Mondays are often a good day to feed your eyes with beautiful things in this community. You also get the opportunity to pick up one or two creative idea from other people's project.

I have learnt alot in this community and I know that others can relate with this as well.

Just last weekend I was talking a walk around my street to ho purchase some sewing materials, a lovely denim skirt hanged on a boutique wall drew my attention. It was a black denim skirt but it was lovely and drew my attention. I moved closer and asked of the price but was told that it goes for 10k naira that's about $6.7 that's quite a lot.

I admired the skirt so much and realizes that I have never owned a denim skirt of my own even though I have one or two Jean trousers.

This morning I decided to sew a denim skirt for myself. Not having the fabric I thought about recycling an old in pant that has never sized or fitted me before.

The pant has never been my size and had stayed unused for many days now pulling it out I was glad that I can give it a useful chance again. Not just that I eventually made a ~~sexy~~ skirt for myself.

Recycling doesn't just give clothes a second use but we get to create newer designs from old fabrics making than feel alive and new again. Now I have a skirt I can rock like a very new outfit.

Who wouldn't love a white T shirt in jeans.

Working process.

First I stated with cutting the jeans to the length size I desired. This is 31"

Next I cut of the along the crotch seamlines. Instead of loosing the seam I cut them off as I didn't ha e any strong blade to lose seams

Next I stitch the back seams at the center eliminating the crotch

1000031342.jpg

I did the same for the front seam whole creating a slit at the mid front The hemming was done neatly and the next challenge was the waist line

The skirt waist has slacked at the waistline and was bigger than my size. At first I wanted hold it I'm like this but this will create a bulky within the skirt and not make it neat enough.

Just them I noticed an elastic band that was added to the band of the pant. I pulled it out and draw out as much of it. This will help to gather the waist line and shorting the longer waist circumference we have.

Having done that the skirt was pulled to my size and that challenge was solved.

Now I not only own a jean skirt but a pretty one at that. If you have some pant you aren't using, this might be a good way to recycle them and own some pretty denim skirt. The shade of the fabric and the star 🌟 design on it makes it more beautiful as a skirt than when it was a pant. What do you think?
