Happy new week to my all my friends onchain especially my dearest and creative needle workers. I can say that needleworkmonday is a beautiful place to be every Monday. There will be dozens of beauty to see and learn from. Different forms of crafts are shared to the delight of our eyes and tutorial we can learn and get inspiration for our own creations.

Yesterday being Sunday Afternoon we spent a good number of hrs in church and while the service was on I noticed that the weather has changed drastically, the summer is upon us and even the church premises was very hot and almost not comfortable sitting under the aluminum roofing..
Upon reaching the house I took a nap and found some summer wear outfit inspiration that caught my attention

I decided to try out sewing some lovely short that will be useful for the summer. Summer wears don't have to be boring. Its been a long time I have sewn a trouser pattern, so it was a good opportunity to relearn and try out new things.
Since it was an African print fabrics I had at home I decided to try this with the fabric. I started with cutting a short of 15inches.
Using my waist measurement of 28" then I hip and crotch depth, I took out those measurements on my African print fabric here.

I cut out the front and back piece adding extra 2" for the back crotch depth after which I decided to see if I still remember how to cut and sew a pocket.
The pocket is 10" deep and 7inche wide after which I slantly cut out 1.5" by the sides

After that was completed I stated to stitch the pocket to the short which I was able to do successfully and neatly here.
I was able to sew some neat hemming for the trouser and joined all the side seams and crotch seamlines

Next I got a band of 3 inches on fold with the exact measurements of the hip

Attached the band to the hip Then I got an elastic and inserted ii into the short here.

After sewing everything the short came out really beautiful and fitted just the way I had admired the one I saw online.

I have this red top that matches the short so well but this wouldn't be fitting for the summer hence it is better get a camisole or light top for this and maybe something colorful and matching it's color.

I would sew a matching top for this soon as I get some comfortable fabrics.
