The Benefits of Knowing First Aid.

So many people lose their lives because of ignorance, and the ignorance comes from the people that need to save their lives. We lack a lot of things; meanwhile, first aid should be the first thing we need to look into. We all should know and learn about first aid. Most people think knowing about first aid should be for the nurse or people at the hospital alone. Just as eating is so important in life, saving lives should also be important, but our people worsen situations instead of making them right. I have seen a situation whereby someone needed first aid, and it wasn't able to be given to the person until the person was no more. What people like to do is just to shout when you need help. Funny enough, people want to help, but they don't know what to do. ![IMG-20250827-WA0002.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/moremoney28/23uFPgrsayYZ7oJ9CZ9LbZAYAdCowG8JdCqTAffjskigXCoHP3qcLiPk3JVjoGxGYTexR.jpg) Imagine someone that stopped breathing all of a sudden in the classroom and collapsed. Instead of giving the person CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), you just left the person alone and didn't even know what to do. Meanwhile, they will use one hour to decide on what to do, another hour to look for the nearest hospital for treatment, and another hour to find transportation to move the person to the hospital. People that care and want to help also end up giving something else to the injured person; imagine pouring water on the person that stopped breathing. Even that alone can cause something else to the person's health. What most of us don't know is that we do not pay attention to things that we actually need, but not all because some know. Just lots of them are ignorant of it. From my side, I'm a first aid specialist, and this is because firstly it's part of what I went to study in school; I have to know about the health and the physical aspect of humans, which makes first aid a core course for us when we are in school. ![IMG-20250827-WA0003.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/moremoney28/Eokce123RoXjdMVoVw6iwBANUupTrV85hC2LNMrKhLGbQGD3aDgScMWPRtAXjjGT9wT.jpg) If you failed it, you have to redo it by all means. If someone is bleeding, you can't wait till you find a nurse or doctor before you can make that person stop bleeding. I mean, these are the little things we're supposed to be doing. As for me, I think having a first aid box should be compulsory all the time, especially if you are doing sports. As a person, it's what I'm doing all the time, so I don't have a choice but to make sure I have it with me. I can manage and treat injured persons because it's what I'm doing. Even after my university, when I went for service, I needed to join the Red Cross to save lives. When I was there, I was also taught the basic way of saving people's lives, even how to put someone in a recovery mood, and we did practicals of it all. Apart from the fact that I can do all these, I'm also a coach, a taekwondo coach. This is a combat sport, and this requires contact between two people. So sometimes they do get injured, which I need to attend to anytime they do, because I can't wait for doctors to come before attending to them. In summary, knowing about first aid and having the kits is very important, as it saves lives. Images are mine.
