How I Took Control of My Health Without a Single Pill
You know how sometimes your body is just tired of your nonsense? That’s exactly what happened to me not too long ago. I’d become that person who reached for medication like it was water. Headache? Painkillers. Bloated? Antacids. Eye pain? Eye drops. My bag literally sounded like a mini pharmacy every time I moved.
Something happened that changed the way I take drugs.
I'm always on my phone and laptop, sometimes I'm always watching movie on the TV.
And then the eye pain started.
At first, it was just a little pressure behind my eyes. You know the kind you get after staring at your phone or laptop all day? I thought, it was just a little strain. But it kept happening.
Then came the headaches. Not the type you sleep off, but the ones that stay with you and whisper, “You brought this on yourself.”
I tried everything: eye drops, painkillers, even cold water on my face. Nothing worked long-term. So I convinced myself I needed glasses, booked an eye test… and guess what? My eyes were fine.

That answer didn’t feel like relief it felt like confusion.
One weekend, by some strange twist of fate (and NEPA), we had no light for almost two days, and I couldn’t charge anything. No TV, no phone, no laptop. At first, I was bored out of my mind. But by Sunday evening, I noticed something weird.
My eyes didn’t hurt. No pressure. No headache. Nothing.
I was so surprised.
From that point on, I made small but intentional changes. I activated night mode and blue light filters on all my devices. I started taking breaks where I’d literally just lie down, close my eyes, and breathe.
It didn’t happen overnight, but within a few weeks, my eyes felt normal again. I stopped relying on painkillers. And I realised… it was never about needing drugs. My eyes just needed me to act right.
Now let me tell you about the second part of my no-more-medication journey: ginger water.
I used to have this annoying, consistent feeling of heaviness in my stomach. I’d eat a small meal and feel like I had swallowed a bag of air. Bloating, discomfort, gas… the whole combo. And also I wasn't able to use the toilet frequently. I kept blaming the food, but I eventually realised, it wasn’t what I was eating it was my digestion that needed support.
I was having scroll on Instagram when I came across someone raving about ginger water. Nothing fancy just fresh ginger boiled in water and sipped warm, first thing in the morning.
I had ginger at home, so I tried it.
That first day? I felt light. Not floating-in-the-air light, but comfortable. For once, my stomach wasn’t making weird noises or blowing up like a balloon.

I tried it again the next day. And the next. It became a habit.
Fast forward two months, and ginger water is the one thing I take consistently that has kept my stomach in check. I no longer dread eating, and I don’t panic after every meal wondering how I’ll feel.
What both these experiences taught me is this: medication isn’t always the hero. Sometimes, your body just wants you to slow down and change how you’re treating it.
Eye pain? It wanted rest, not eye drops.
Bloating? My gut wanted warmth and support, not constant tablets.
We’ve grown so used to quick fixes that we forget how powerful simple habits can be. Don’t get me wrong, medication has its place. But not everything needs to come from the pharmacy.
Sometimes the remedy is:
Taking a break from your screen.
Drinking warm ginger water.
Sleeping more.
Moving your body.
Letting your body reset.
