Since childhood, I have heard, “If you are sick, you need to take medicine.” But I can say that as time has passed, my perspective on this saying has changed a lot from my own life experience. Now I can no longer take medicine unnecessarily. Instead, I try to understand my body, take time, and heal naturally.
Let me tell you a story. A few years ago, I had a severe sore throat. I thought, I think I have tonsils. Usually, when this happens, we go straight to the pharmacy and buy antibiotics. But I did nothing for the first two days. I drank lukewarm water, gargled with salt, and rested my throat. After three days, the pain was completely gone. That's when I first realized — not all illnesses require medicine, many times the body knows how to heal itself. I had another bad habit — I used to take paracetamol whenever I had a slight headache. But now I understand that there are many reasons behind headaches. Lack of sleep, lack of water intake, stress – these can all cause headaches. Now I first check whether the body is getting proper rest. I drink water, lie down with my eyes closed for a while. Sometimes the pain goes away without medicine.
There are still many people who take various medicines every day, even without a doctor. I never support this. Medicine is a necessary thing, but if you don't know when, how much, and for what reason it should be taken - it can be dangerous. I try myself - I don't take medicine unless the doctor tells me to. And when I see that home remedies are not working, I definitely consult a doctor without delay.
I always remember one thing my mother said - "Sleep well every day, drink water, take light walks, keep your mind healthy - and you will see that your body will be healthy." My mother is not a doctor, but there is a lot of truth in her words. Now I have learned to understand my own body. It is a time-consuming matter, but once you learn to understand, you will understand yourself - taking medicine for all diseases is not the solution. A friend of mine had a habit of taking gas medicine every day. When I asked him, "Have you seen a doctor?" — He said, “No, these are ordinary medicines, I feel relief after taking them.” But after a few days, he developed a serious stomach problem. Then the doctor said, “I can’t take these medicines for so long!” Then he understood that taking medicines for relief does not mean that the disease will be cured.
I am writing this article from my own life experience. No one should think that I am opposing treatment or medicines. Rather, I want to say – medicines should be taken correctly when needed, but not as a habit. And I have now made this my life rule that no medicine should be taken without the advice of a doctor. love your body, give it time, try to understand it. Only then will you understand when you need medicine, and when you just need a little rest and care.
