An Autumn Walk to Remember

Last Wednesday, as the clock ticked past 5 PM, I had the wonderful opportunity to step away from work and immerse myself in the serene beauty of the Polish countryside.

It was one of those perfect autumn days—a bright blue sky, the air wonderfully crisp and fresh, and the sun hanging low, casting that beautiful golden light known as the 'magic hour'. It was an unforgettable experience that I just have to share with you all.

Where the Path Led Me For those wondering about the location, this fantastic spot is in the Greater Poland Voivodeship (Wielkopolskie) in Poland, specifically in the rural area between the towns of Kórnik and Września, near the A2/E30 highway.

While not a famous national park, this region is known for its quiet forests and agricultural land, offering a perfect escape from city life. There aren't many historical "facts" about this particular patch of woodland, but the region as a whole is historically significant, being the heartland where the Polish state began.

For me, the most interesting fact about this specific forest is its sheer, untouched tranquillity—it's a local treasure for anyone looking to connect with nature.

The Delight of the Forest Floor As I walked deeper under the canopy, the forest floor revealed its secret autumn bounty: mushrooms! I wasn't the only one out, either.

I came across several enthusiastic mushroom pickers (grzybiarze in Polish), a very popular pastime here. They were deep in concentration, their baskets already brimming with forest treasures.

While I don't possess to much knowledge to identify the edible from the merely beautiful, I was completely captivated by the variety of shapes and colours.

I stopped several times to simply admire the fungi and capture their beauty with my camera.

I have no idea what they are, but their intricate details and vivid colours were a joy to photograph!

The Golden Glow of a Polish Sunset Beyond the mushrooms, the landscape itself was breathtaking.

The low, warm sunlight was streaming horizontally through the thinning leaves, creating long shadows and painting the scene in rich, autumnal hues. The clear air made the distant fields and trees look sharp and vibrant.

I managed to snap a couple of landscape photos that, I hope, capture the peaceful, golden atmosphere of that Wednesday evening. It was a wonderful reminder of how simple it is to find beauty when you just slow down and look around.

**What a perfect way to end the day! **

Do you have a favourite autumn walking spot? I’d love to hear about it!

I hope you enjoyed my little post and have a nice evening!
