As is the case with major mass casualty stories and terror attacks it’s normally a rule that not all the relevant information comes out in the immediate hours or even first few days after the attack or incident has occurred.
The Huntingdon Horror where a deranged man stabbed random people on a train in Cambridgeshire and injured ten people many of them seriously is no exception to that rule.
One of these inevitable corrections is the number of attackers involved in this atrocity. There were not two attackers but only one. The police Tasered and arrested one man who turned out to be completely innocent and who has been released by police without charge or a stain on his character.
We find out that one of the heroes of this attack was a member of train staff who protected passengers from assault and incurred serious injuries by doing so. May they soon be healed of their wounds.
The train driver is an ex Royal Navy sailor who put all his training to good use and therefore had the presence of mind to not stop the train in the middle of nowhere when the communication cord was pullled. Instead he took the train into Huntingdon where help and assistance from the emergency services could more easily be given.
Police initially released some detail about the alleged attacker but for a while the information was only that he is a ‘Black Briton’. We did not know the suspect’s identity until he was charged. The suspect has now been charged with 10 counts of attempted murder and has been named as Anthony Williams aged 32 and from Peterborough.
There are also rumours circulating around that claim that Williams was seen in a barbershop some time prior to the atrocity armed with a knife. Some of these claims say that Williams was seen by police and NHS mental health staff but nothing was done to prevent him allegedly going on to carry out this attack. At present there is no confirmation of these rumours but the Crown Prosecution Service is said by Sky News to be ‘looking into linked offences’ which could mean the alleged barbershop incident or maybe something else entirely.
The political classes have continued to fail atrociously regrding their response to this attack. We’ve not seen much of the Prime Minister apart from his bland ‘deeply concerned’ Tweet on the X platform. Rather than openly acknowledge Britain’s problems and including the problems in the UK that come from imported wrong’uns, failing services to deal with wrong’uns and bad ideologies, politicians have been wittering about nonsense stuff such as knife arches at every station. Such activity by our political classes is a displacement activity undertaken to look busy rather than deal with any of the real problems that might have led up to the Huntingdon Horror. Such displacement activity is reminiscent of the period following the murder of Conservative MP Sir David Amess by an Islamism driven Somali knifeman. Following the murder of Sir David Parliamentarians took up an inordinate amount of time debating anonymity online and virtually nothing about the jihadism that clearly drove Sir David’s murderer.
Cambridgeshire Police and other local emergency services had had recent training for just such a mass stabbing attack and it appears that this training was put to good use.
My original piece on this atrocity was written before many of these details had come in and I wanted to ensure readers that I have noticed and noted that this story has changed due to more details coming out.
