This is an anime that will make you cry once in a while. There are many events that is true and has already happened in real life, The anime is called "Grave of the fireflies," if you're ready to cry a bucket then this anime is for you. Many people already has seen this movie and many still have not, for them I am reviewing this to give you a bare minimum knowledge about it. It's not like any other stories, it will touch your soul. The love between the siblings will linger in your heart even if you don't have any siblings. The anime reels came into my feed, and I thought I should review. This is one of my favorite anime. It’s an old one, but trust me, it is one of the best anime you will ever watch. It's depressing and leaves you with bittersweet feelings. I have already watched this 5-8 times and I am sure once you watch it, you will become a huge fan of it even if you don't watch animes at all. "Grave of the Fireflies" is a Studio Ghibli film, so you can already guess how much great it can be.
Plot Summary
The story begins in the timeline of the final months of World War II in Japan. It is the story of two siblings trying to survive in this drastic moment. 14 years old Seita is the big brother of Setsuko who is only 4 years old. Seita's mother fatally injured in a firebombing of Kobe and later dies. After their mothers death they initially took shelter with their aunt. Seita's aunt was not kind at all she often said bitter things and has shown resentful attitude towards them because of the hardships of wartime. She blamed Seita and his sister Setsuko for shrinking food rations and she had a perspective about Seita not contributing enough. Seita was hurt and wanted to get rid of constant criticism and insults. He decided to leave with Setsuko and try to survive on their own.

They moved into an abandoned bomb shelter near a lake. Where everything is on their own, first few days was great. They were enjoying their freedom as there was no one to taunt. But as soon the food started shrinking they were suffering from hunger. Everything started to change and became dull. Seita was trying his best to bring food but he was too young for anything and during war time it is hard to find a job for survival. He tried to steal and even got caught he had given his best, meanwhile Setsuko was falling sick because of hunger, as she was very young she could not bear it anymore....

The story is giving a powerful message about the devastating impact of war on innocent lives. It is truly a heart-warming and heart-wrenching story. We get to witness the growth of Seita and how responsibility was on Seita's shoulder, he is an older brother who learns to reach everything out of his soul in order to provide for his little sister and the real struggle without a parent. He is a kid too, but their childhood turned into a disaster. There were too innocent for this world. It breaks my heart whenever I think of this movie, it makes me feel so miserable that out of nowhere I am shedding tears. It feels like I wish I was there to help them out. But it's not possible, I can only say that to satisfy myself.
There are wars going around the world, I can do nothing about it. Probably they are going through the same thing which is shown in the movie. Actually war can never bring peace but many won't understand. This movie will show you the harsh reality how innocent lives are taken during war. How people suffer and what they go through everyday. The fear of death you can feel it through watching this anime movie. I appreciate the writer and the animators for making such amazing movie. I could never know about the situation unless I have watched a movie like this. It delivers a strong anti-war message and I hope everyone realizes the purpose of it very soon.
My final thoughts are that if you are looking for something sad, I mean to say emotional! then you should definitely try watching this anime. It is absolutely the best choice you will ever make.
