Like everything else in life, routines change over the weeks and months, and it's normal to discover new things that catch your attention, either momentarily or permanently. As far as I am concerned, there is one area in which I have always tried to learn, and that is English. Since I was a child, I have been attracted to the “universal language,” and there is no doubt that speaking this language is a great advantage that can be very useful in certain situations or if we find ourselves in a country or region where our native language is not spoken.
So, with the intention of improving what I had already learned, I downloaded the Duolingo app, which is very famous worldwide for its dynamic nature and because you can view lessons at your own pace, which is great since we don't usually have much time available. With this app, you can learn dozens of languages by tracking your progress and improvements on a daily basis, with different types of lessons that will improve your understanding, writing, and speaking skills.

As you can see in the images above, I started using Duolingo a little over two weeks ago, and I have been doing at least one of the lessons available on the app every day since then. It's important to mention that, if you have the time, you can get through large chunks of the lessons in a single day, as there doesn't seem to be a daily limit. So far, my English score is 21, and I am in the gold division with 15 consecutive days of activity. There is also a ranking where you can rub shoulders with other users of the app, which I think encourages you to want to improve in order to surpass them. At the moment, I am in second place in the ranking.

Next, you will see a complete class that I did today, so you can familiarize yourself with the different dynamics that the application uses to teach languages to users. Among the most frequent exercises, we have translation, filling in the blanks, selecting pairs, listening and responding, completing missing words, among other very fun ones that make classes much less boring.

In the images, you can see a complete class with 16 exercises in which I didn't make a single mistake. I should point out that there is a limited number of 5 lives, which are reduced each time you make a mistake. At the time of this class, I had 2 lives remaining. One thing I would highlight about this app is its ability to praise you when you successfully complete exercises, which makes you feel very good and encourages you to keep going.
So, I will try to improve and increase my level of English. I think this app will help me refresh the knowledge I already had and perfect things I already knew about. So far, I have felt quite comfortable with the classes I have seen. In fact, I think some of them are very easy, so I would like to increase the level of difficulty sooner rather than later to feel even more challenged. In the coming days, I will share my progress. I am excited to see how I evolve.
