One of the great challenges when studying for a university degree is being able to then practice your profession in the workplace. The chances of this happening vary depending on the country, your environment, and other circumstances that, in one way or another, may or may not allow you to practice your profession and apply the knowledge you acquired at university.
In my particular case, I was fortunate enough to study two degrees. The first was a technical degree in Fiscal Sciences, which is a degree related to taxes, duties, and customs, and then I was able to obtain an equivalence to graduate as a Certified Public Accountant. But going back a little, when I was able to obtain my Advanced Technical degree, I was not able to immediately practice in that field. I had to work in different places that had nothing to do with that technical degree, until about three years later when I had the opportunity to practice something similar, as I was able to obtain a position as an Audit Administrative Assistant.
However, even though being an Audit Administrative Assistant sounds like a simple or unassuming job, what I learned there served me well for what was to come in the future. So, about two and a half years later, after several circumstances arose, I had the opportunity to become Budget Manager. This was after I had already earned my university degree in Accounting. Being Budget Manager is one of the best things that has ever happened to me. I was able to gain other knowledge, diversify it, and then put it into practice, demonstrating that a career in Accounting has the versatility to encompass other fields that go beyond accounting itself.

After a couple of years of being very happy as Head of Budgeting, economic circumstances led me to resign from this position and then devote myself to other things, both at work and in my life in general. Thus, the possibility of comfortably pursuing the career I had studied for so many years had vanished, but these are things that are part of life, and all that remained was to be patient until circumstances allowed me to pursue my career again.
So, for about seven years, I devoted myself to other things that had nothing to do with my career, but which I did with great pride and determination. It even made me realize that I had the ability to quickly learn other technical and advanced tasks, as long as I was given the opportunity to learn and be trained in those fields. Despite this, life always rewards patience and the ability to wait for the right moment. A couple of months ago, I was able to obtain the position of Chief Accountant at a sports institution, where I have been able to perform quite well since day one.
This was basically because being Budget Manager and Administrative Audit Assistant allowed me to broaden my vision regarding other aspects of accounting that I am now putting into practice at this institute. It seems unbelievable, but experience is valuable. Everything I am applying in my current job is the result of all the experiences I had as Administrative Audit Assistant and Budget Manager. Being immersed in those positions and those fields allowed me to broaden my field of vision for accounting and even take it to another level at this institute, since from the moment I arrived it was clear that things were not being done in the best way.

So, after dusting off a couple of manuals and developing some tools in Excel, I was able to organize the institute's accounting to the point where it was completely up to date and corrected, since basically no accounting records had been made for financial transactions throughout the entire year.
After a long time, I am once again practicing my profession, understanding that we continue to learn and update ourselves every day, since accounting in particular is a field that is updated very frequently. I would like to take this opportunity to encourage you, if you have a university degree and have not yet been able to practice it, to be patient and wait for the right moment. Believe me, that day will come, and it will be very satisfying for you. I am happy to share these thoughts. See you next time.
