El final de la eliminatoria sudamericana está cada vez más cerca y en ese sentido los partidos se tornarán más decisivos y con márgenes de error cada vez más cerrados. Selecciones como Bolivia y Venezuela tratarán de rasgar cualquier punto en la carretera considerando que ambos jugarán como visitantes, ambos tienen partidos contra selecciones muy fuertes como lo son Argentina y Colombia, por lo que el panorama no es del todo esperanzador para puntuar por lo menos en esta fecha 17. Otras selecciones jugarán partidos de trámite, como por ejemplo Brasil y Chile quienes no tienen mucho que buscar más allá de hacer un buen juego. Uruguay - Perú y Paraguay - Ecuador sencillamente tratarán de cerrar los trámites respectivos considerando que ya el panorama para estas elecciones está más que claro.
