Retro Gameplay // Into the jungle with GoldenEye 007 (1997)

In 1997, one of the games that I saw most often was released, revolutionizing video game arcades. When GoldenEye 007 arrived, multiplayer gaming intensified, as it was one of the most attractive games for up to four players. Playing solo to complete missions was the most interesting part of the game for me, although I must admit that due to the language barrier at the time and being basically a child, I had trouble understanding the objectives in some of the missions. However, over time, I discovered what to do in some of the scenarios.

In the following images, you will see part of the initial menu, which is simple and takes us straight to the point beyond selecting the mission and the difficulty of the game. For this gameplay, I selected the Secret Agent difficulty, which is level 2 out of 4. I did this because I haven't played in years and I was sure I wouldn't be very agile.

For this gameplay, I selected the Cuban jungle, a mission in which we must escort our companion Natalya, eliminate Xenia, and destroy some elements. At the beginning, we arrive at the location in an airplane, which is completely destroyed. From there, we must traverse the jungle, taking down enemies and destroying the drones that eventually appear.

Once we reach the bridge, things get a little more complicated. We have to face Xenia, who is quite tough, and on top of that, many more enemies start to appear. But if you manage to survive, you'll be close to completing the mission. Did I make it? Well, you'll have to watch the gameplay to find out.

So, I present to you this wonderful and iconic game that is still very appealing today. While playing, I felt the same sensation as playing a modern shooter, but with the obvious difference in graphics. I am impressed by the large number of scenarios this game has. In fact, I would say that other more current titles are not as complex as GoldenEye 007, a game that is definitely here to stay.
