When it comes to retro games, hidden gems keep appearing, the more I try to remember and research about the best games of the 90's, the more titles that were memorable at the time appear. is the case of Star Fox 64, a game that I played in its Super Nintendo version, but that in that console had not convinced me, the truth is that I did not feel comfortable playing it, however, the Nintendo 64 version is another thing, from the first moment I played the Training I knew I could play this game for hours. I had not had the opportunity to play this version of Star Fox, so today I'm playing it for the first time and this is the gameplay you will see in the video.
As you saw in the previous pictures, the interface is simple, we see the main screen of the game, the game modes among which are Main Game, Training and VS, and we also see the stages or worlds that we must overcome. I should mention that in the meantime we see some video intros where we are introduced to the characters and the missions are explained.
It should be noted that from the first moment you notice the quality of the graphics which from my point of view are quite advanced for its time, we must remember that this is a game of 1997, however, it is also true that this is something that should not surprise us from Nintendo 64 as they were revolutionaries in the graphics section.
Star Fox 64 is a Shooter / Martian shooter in which we move in a spaceship shooting enemies that appear everywhere, it is a frenetic game with dazzling colors and seemingly endless scenarios. The ship has two types of weapons, infinite shots and bombs that do more damage, but you have to know how to manage because they are limited. The ship can accelerate and brake, that allows us to have more control of the different situations.
In the present gameplay, I play mission No. 1, which is probably the easiest of all and serves to adapt to the controls and get to know the tricks of the game. I take a very positive impression of Star Fox 64, a game ahead of its time and that today could be perfectly valid, I will try, if time allows me, to play other stages to improve my skills and maybe discover secrets to have a more destructive force. It was a pleasure to share. Bye!
