Those who know me know that I mostly watch rock and metal bands and these posts. I know that these musical genres are not so popular on this blockchain, but part of my insistence on sharing the music I like is based on highlighting the virtues of the bands I listen to and, along with that, perhaps attracting people to this world of rock that has given me so much since I started listening to it, from concerts by international bands to live performances with the old band I belonged to, where I was the bassist. I can definitely only say good things about my experiences with rock and metal.
So, in my quest to discover new genres or bands that leave me feeling good, I often find myself searching for and listening to new offerings. Well, I mean new offerings to my ears, since I won't necessarily be introducing you to new bands; some of them have been around for many years, but since the universe of bands is so vast, it's difficult to know them all.
I'm going to start with the Italian band “Secret Sphere.” This band has been around for about 30 years, but honestly, I had never heard of them before. I know and listen to Italian bands like Rhapsody of Fire (in all their formations), Vision Divine, Trick or Treat, and Temperance, so I don't understand how I had never heard of Secret Sphere, but these things happen. The best part is that the song I'm sharing, called “Legend,” is from a lineup that included Michele Luppi. This guy is one of my all-time favorite vocalists. He has a distinctive, fresh voice that he wields at will. To me, he's a monster. In the video, you'll hear power metal with exquisite progressive touches. This song definitely takes me to other places.

The following comes from Brazil. Vakan is a heavy metal band with only one album to their existence, but with that alone they have demonstrated that they have a very different and interesting approach. Upon listening to some of their songs, I realized that they seem to still be searching for a style or identity, as they vary in that regard between albums and subsequent singles. However, I consider this to be normal for relatively young bands that have not yet earned a place in the mainstream. In the song “We are what we are,” I noticed that the vocalist has a voice that is not common in heavy metal, but that is precisely one of the things that makes them distinctive. I liked the use of the keyboard and the chorus of the song; I can't stop singing it, sometimes without even realizing it.

I didn't discover the following band on my own, but thanks to a friend from the blockchain who recommended it to me. Mammoth is a band created by Wolfgang Van Halen, son of none other than Eddie Van Halen. The style is hard rock, but heavier than usual. I read that Wolfgang records all the instruments for the songs, which I found impressive. He is definitely a multi-instrumentalist with great skills. However, for live performances, he has had a band for a few years now. In the song “The Spell,” we can hear a clear and precise example of the band's style.

While writing this post, I realized how much I still have to learn about rock and metal bands. Even though these genres aren't popular with the general public, there's a pretty big universe out there, and I'm happy to know that because now I can keep discovering cool bands to add to my playlist. It was a pleasure to share. See you later!
