The premise that the Netflix series “Wednesday” is for children or teenagers is quite valid if we look at it from a basic point of view. The story of the Addams family, despite its dark undertones, always felt more focused on a young audience. However, for some reason, it also appealed to adults. Perhaps the fact that we see gloomy characters, a deathly atmosphere, and other bizarre elements means that at times the line between childish and adult is blurred, or at least that is my perception.
Now, moving away from the 1960s series and the early 1990s films, it is true that the series “Wednesday” seems to be aimed more at a teenage audience, but why would someone like me, who is over 30, be interested in this series? Well, first of all, it should be made clear that these kinds of preferences or tastes are entirely subjective. Perhaps you have no interest in series like these, and that is completely normal. To be honest, at first I wasn't very interested, but out of curiosity I started watching this series, and even though I don't think it's memorable, for some reason I got hooked.
The film genres I like most are horror and science fiction. I like unsolved mysteries or those with dark secrets behind them, and well, even though there isn't much depth to the mysteries presented in this series, I liked the fact that beyond focusing on Wednesday's personality and her eccentric family members, there are external elements that make us look away from the Addams family at times and focus on secondary characters who play an important role in the story.
The episodes of the first season, as well as those of the second season, which is still airing, have a good pace, which is extremely important as it allows us to maintain our attention throughout the seasons. I believe this series has the ability to keep viewers engaged through questions and mysteries, especially with Wednesday playing detective or investigator with her unique practices and powers. It must be acknowledged that this role is played quite well by Jenna Ortega, who has made the character her own by adapting it to modern times.

The latter brings me to my next point, which is that the interesting casting has drawn a little more attention to the series. Seeing Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia and other well-known actors such as Christina Ricci, Gwendoline Christie, and Steve Buscemi piques the viewer's curiosity and makes them want to watch at least one episode. But what's most interesting is that they've really done a great job with their characters, which reinforces the idea that it's not all about Jenna Ortega's character, but that there are other factors that also grab your attention.
The soundtrack for the series is quite acceptable. I would give it an 8/10. It has undoubtedly been a great success. On the other hand, the special effects have not been entirely convincing. Although it is true that they are not a major element in the series, when there has been a need to use them, they have fallen short. However, I don't think this is a decisive factor in dismissing the series. The truth is that I personally always look forward to seeing the next episode. I already mentioned that these things are subjective, but after expressing my points, I think Wednesday is undoubtedly a series that can work for different audiences.
