I woke up feeling fresh and renewed after a day of full rest, I’ve been working out every day for a while and the day off really made a big difference. I don’t like working out first thing in the morning so I took the chance to get some work done and since the weather was looking great I decided to go for a fast 5 Km run. I failed to beat my personal best time last week so it was time to finally break it once again, started super strong but a little after the half point I was struggling to keep the pace up. I wasn’t about to give up so I kept pushing as hard as possible. The mental aspect has a huge impact on my performance since I’m able to push through the exhaustion when I know I’m on pace to break my previous best time. I finished the 5 Km in 29 minutes and 10 seconds which is just 20 seconds better than my previous personal best but that’s ok, little by little I will get to my goal of running the 5 K with a pace under 5’30’’.
The next objective for this week is to run 10 Km under 1 hour and 10 minutes. It won’t be easy but I’m going to give it my best next Thursday!
