This is my post for #freewriters 2825 prompt greet the VIP hosted by @mariannewest
Summer is always a pleasure when it comes to growing pineapples. I had 16 with fruit this year. This year, they were not as big or as sweet as they have been in the past. I thought it was just mine doing this, but now I have read others complaining about their pineapples being small. Maybe it was the drought we had, or maybe it is because it has been so hot, I am not sure, but I would think it was one of the two.
Maybe a winter pineapple will be better. greet the VIP, I noticed this one on July 19th.
This is what it now looks like. I took this photo last Friday. I am thinking it might be ripe in December or January.
The last winter pineapple I had weighed close to 9 pounds. I do not know how big it would have been. It broke from the plant before it fully ripened by a thunderstorm. It is also the only one I have grown with multiple crowns. photos are mine
