This is my post for #freewriters 2869 prompt joint hosted by @mariannewest
Today I ran a new hose and sprinkler so I can water the new pineapple patch I made. I do not know what was so hard on me, but my back and hand hurt so bad afterward that I could not do any more work outside. One thing that hurt my hand so much was the hose I used had a lot of dripper lines in it and I had to plug all of the holes in it.
The other thing that hurt was I had to put three splices in the hose because it was not long enough and I had to splice it into the waterline. I used seven clamps that had to be tightened with a screwdriver. I tried to tighten them with my left hand, but that was not working so I had to do it with my right hand which is the bad one. When the sprinklers went off, I checked and all but one joint leaked. It is the middle one in this photo. I will need my husband to tighten it.
I was not in the house long when my husband called, he fished today. His boat motor broke down and he was across the river from his truck. He said he was near Long Point and could use his trolling motor to get to the park, they have a boat ramp, but I can not drive that far. He told me to call my sister and see if she could get him. He told me where he keeps an extra key for his truck.
She had a job to do in Fort Pierce and said she was almost back to Sebastian and would come by the house and get me so I could drive her truck back to my house when we get his truck and trailer. He put his boat in at the ramp two miles from our house. My sister wanted to take her truck and his boat trailer but we could not find a key to unlock it from his truck. I drove his truck and trailer to our house and she drove her truck, then took his.
We had not had rain in days, so of course, while he was stuck on the river and we were trying to find his key he had hid on his truck, and we got a full-blown thunderstorm. I stepped out of my sister's truck just as a lightning bolt came down. Why do things like that happen when you are in a hurry?
They made it back without any trouble. My husband only caught 15 pounds of trout. He said the sharks were bad, he could not fish in the places we catch trout for them. He was also lucky not to get an eye put out by a pigfish fin. He put a trout in the boat and his bait came up the line then flew off hitting him on his eyelid. He had to leave his bait holder in the river, but will take my boat to go get it in the morning. photos are mine
