This is my post for #freewriters 2871 prompt frog ballet hosted by @mariannewest
I saw him in our driveway, and he looked as if he had been eating well. He had a happy face.
I did not know if he was the same frog but a few days later, I saw him again. He looked friendly as he sat on the railing of my front steps.
I wanted to get a photo of us together but I figured he would hop away. He sat there and let me put my arms and the camera in front of him, as if we were about to start a frog ballet. I think he even had a twinkle in his eyes.
We have many frogs, and I never know where one will be. I was surprised to find this one sitting inside a desert rose flower.
One day when I was pressure washing our trailer, the water lifted a piece of siding. When it did this, the frogs came leaping out. It scared me at first, but I learned how to quickly dodge them. It was like a frog ballet. frogs jumping in all directions.
We do not see many of these green frogs since the big brown ones showed up, IDK why, maybe the others with their big mouths ate them.
Everyone calls this weed frog fruit, but that was not its original name. In the Middle ages when farmers mowed their fields this plant would sprout. The fields would be covered in morning fog, so the farmers called it fog fruit. They say over hundreds of years as the name was passed down, it changed to frog fruit. It has nothing to do with frogs or frog ballet.
You can make tea from the leaves but it has a grassy taste. Frog fruit is known in traditional medicine as a powerful cholegogue (a liver decongestant) and as a remedy for constipation and low gut motility. https://www.google.com/search?q=is+frog+fruit+edible&rlz=1C1CHBF_enUS914US914&oq=is+frog+fruit+edible&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUyCQgAEEUYORiABDIICAEQABgWGB4yDQgCEAAYhgMYgAQYigUyDQgDEAAYhgMYgAQYigUyDQgEEAAYhgMYgAQYigUyBwgFEAAY7wUyCggGEAAYgAQYogTSAQoxNjEzM2owajE1qAIMsAIB8QWoKlTGgcqSJA&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8 Rudy can eat it, he is a wild rabbit, but you should be careful when giving it to tame rabbits, their digestive systems are more senitive. If you want to feed it to tame rabbits, do it a little at a time. photos are mine
