This is my post for #freewriters 2874 prompt does not correspond hosted by @mariannewest
Today has been a do nothing day for me. I took my youngest to the store, and on the way home, we stopped at a yard sale. I bought a skill saw, eight stainless hose clamps, and a stainless boat plug for seven dollars. They had a 100 foot thick extension cord for ten dollars, but I did not have enough cash. I thought about asking if he would hold it for me, but I figured since I did not live far, I could run home and get more money. When I came back with the cash, it was sold. When I asked about it, he said he would have held it for me. Live and learn to ask. I ended up getting a wheelbarrow for twenty dollars.
Next door to the yard sale was our friend Bill's house. We had not seen him in quite a while and knew he went back north at times. I asked if they knew where he went, and was saddened by what he told me. Bill left his house one evening and was driving down US1 by the river. They think he had a heart attack and drove his car off into the river and drowned. He was older than us. It seems like we are losing friends one after the other.
My husband has been wanting a kayak that you do not need to fit down in, they had one there, but it does not correspond with what he wants. It was a two person one and a lot longer and heavier than he wanted, so I did not ask the price.
This is our oldest daughter's kayak, he took it to our river and tried it, but did not like it because it is hard for him to get in and out of.
It is also hard for him to get on top of his truck by himself. I helped him put it up there. This is the one time he took it on one of his camping trips, and while there, he never took it down until he returned home, and I helped get it down. He wants a ten foot open kayak.
